These give a great shape and are more tailored that most 'sporty' trousers. The stretch in them makes it easy to clamber over things and bend over. Fit-wise, they are true to size (or perhaps even a little generous) if you are straight hipped. I'm guessing that if you are more pear-shaped, you might want to go up a size. If you're taller than 158cm, you might find the short size a little too short.

The fabric is reasonably thin but it gives some protection from the wind, wipes clean quite well and dries very fast.

BUT, AllyJ is right. They're not great (at least in the shorter size)if you've got legs with a bit of muscle. The trousers above/below the zip fit perfectly but where the zip lies is tight - and doesn't really loosen off after wearing. They're not unwearable but they'd be a lot more comfortable with an extra cm or so of zip in them!

I can be a size 10 or 12 (36 inch hip) depending on the style and had originally purchased a size 12 in the baggier, non-stretch style but boy did my bottom look enormous in those! So I returned them and thought I'd try a size 10 in a stretch material. Brilliant choice! They fit well, look good, feel comfortable and have several zipped pockets including one with a glasses cleaner attached. Zip-off facility means they double up as shorts and they have a sun factor so will be ideal for my regular walks in the Peak District and trekking through the tropical rain forests next spring. Good leg length and narrow legs makes it easy to tuck them inside walking socks and boots.

After reading other reviews i had decided not to purchase these trousers....but i'm so glad that i changed my mind.. They are really comfortable and you can't tell they have zips around the legs. I'm not sure if they are slight seconds as, someone else pointed out the stitching is not so good in places.I do not think it will come undone and cause a problem. Because of the price i paid i am more than 100% happy with my purchase and i would advise anyone else who was like me to just go ahead and place your order. I have 2 other pairs of these trousers (not with zip off legs) and i wouldn't buy anything else now. They are both practical and stylish all in one. They have lovely straight legs no excess material flapping around like other walking trousers. They get the full 5 stars from me :-)

Tried two different sizes of these, 8 and 10. I normally wear 8, when i bought these, the zips felt really uncomfortable when walking not to mention bending. I exchanged them for size 10 and exactly the same thing, they were uncomfortable. other than that, the fit elsewhere was good, just the zips were uncomfortable.

I don't have big legs, but found that where the trousers zip off was far too tight, so I had to return them. I would buy the same without the zip off, as nice cut and narrow leg which is quite unusual for an outdoor trouser.

Colour Name: Dk NavySize: 8 Long Verified Purchase
I am an 8 or 10 depending on store/manufacturer so initially ordered a pair in 10 regular, which were too short and ridiculously large. I then replaced them with 8 long which turned out to be a pretty good fit - so much so that I have ordered a second pair, as I specifically want navy, which very few physical shops sell. They are still a bit baggy on the hip (the cut seems a little too generous at the side) and I would prefer the boot end to be a bit wider as I have large feet so the trousers tend to snag on my bootlaces and heel tabs rather than hanging properly, but for walking these things aren't critical; it just means that on me they don't look smart enough for casual wear, for which I'd otherwise love to use them. The pockets are so useful - no more having to heave my rucksack off to reach my purse or phone - and I've worn them for a full-day walk with no issues whatsoever. The only reason I don't rate them higher is the cut around the hip and foot.

Oh, this could have been so good if people's comfort and security had been the priority. Needed shorts and trousers for travelling and walking in hot countries, and on first try, these looked really good when worn, albeit very tight for the sizing. Very uncomfortable near the zip, so I took the legs off to try just as shorts and thought was okay apart from the tightness and gaping waist at the back. Dear designers, please allow for people with small waists and big hips. So, walked around in what felt like were tight shorts... and then I tried to sit down. Oh dear, the zip cuts off circulation in your legs because it is so tight without any stretch or give. Wanted this for the pockets first and foremost, but comfort very, very important too. Why aren't designers making travel shorts, trousers and skirts which have some flare for us pear shaped ladies. There are a lot of us! And for comfortable travelling in hot weather, loose fitting designs really are a must. Not everyone wants to wear skinny jeans when travelling and these trousers need some bagginess for making good use of the really, really handy pockets. Additional note to designers, we ladies need workable pockets in our clothing; lots of them. We don't all want to be carrying massive handbags for our ever more massive mobile phones etc. I would eagerly sacrifice the slim lines in my clothing for pockets, especially secure zip pockets. It is still possible to design pretty, flattering and comfortable clothing with ample pockets, if a little thought is given to the matter and there's a market screaming for such products for an enterprising designer.
