About the Author

When I was 9, my grandmother gave me a postcard set of Venice, Italy. Gondolas, 14th century gothic buildings, Carnival and lace: how could I not fall in love? Little did she know the gift she gave me. It became my passion, to travel through time and place looking for beautiful places, gorgeous textiles and fascinating people. That quest has led me to teach history, because I love it, and to become a museum curator, because I love stories and beautiful things. Now I am very thankful that I can write about beautiful places and fascinating people, and that others read it. I hope my books help you escape into a world of stories and beauty, and let you meet some fascinating people.

More About the Author

After the birth of my daughter, I kept meeting other mothers who wanted to work at home. They were asking the same questions I had. How can I be there for my children and still make decent money? How can I work at home or go part-time? Which one is right for me? In Work Women Want I set out to find them an answer.

Jennifer Forest is an author and heritage consultant. She has written four other books, traded shares and run a small business. Jennifer is on a quest chasing the promise made to her as a teenager: that women can have it all. Why can't mothers have time to take their children to the playground and still make decent money?

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and interesting 7 Oct. 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This series of interviews covers women, across the world, who have succeeded in making their craft their business - via shops, tour guiding, publishing, design. For anyone who ever wondered if their craft could give them an income this is a great inspirational book which contains, along the way, many hints about what to do and what not to do. Each of these women have found what works for them in their situation rather than follow some non-related set of directions. Even if you don't want to start your own business with your craft this book is likely to give you a new enthusiasm for craft work.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the crafter who has everything 6 Dec. 2012
By Mel Ford - Published on
Crafty Girls Talk is full of inspiring and interesting interviews with women who are serious about their craft. They each have their own stories to tell and specialise in different crafts but their stories motivate one to try something new or even start a craft business. It is a beautifully illustrated book and would make a unique gift for a special crafter in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful business tales from 'real' people! 4 Dec. 2013
By Ortensia - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great book that offers insight into the motivations, business decisions and personal lives of a handful of individuals who have made craft their business. I really get the sense that each person interviewed is a real person with personal hesitations and doubts, as well as joys. I like that it's a balanced book - it even has a tale or two from people that didn't succeed in their business. It's also an easy read with a clear structure and lovely photos.
