first of all: i'm from italy, therefore my knowledge of american modernists is fresh. this is to say that the book could not satisfy experts or somebody who is looking for a deep study on the matter. the book is nonetheless very well done in terms of photographies and according to my needs the research on artists and their artifacts, the report of what was going on in those years and the wide choice of materials explored is very fascinating.i think is definitely a book to have.

A Masterful Exhibit 3 Sep 2012

What a show! What an exhibition indeed! I better appreciate how the arrangement of design and craft and particular events work to effect our understanding of the postwar years; its impact on our lives. These years seemed so misunderstood. (My father was in the war and so sadly traumatized psychologically. Through it all he was brave and loyal.) Finally, these years, 1945 through the sixties were (and are still) a vital part of our world.
