Product Description

Product Description

Experience a perfect shave with the Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad shave soap in a wooden bowl. This luxurious soap encased in a handsome teak bowl makes it an excellent gift, either for the man in your life or to yourself for a self-indulgent treat. For the man who enjoys a traditional wet shave, there is no better ritual than lathering up a badger hair shaving brush with a fine shaving soap.

The Nomad shave soap is enriched with antioxidant vitamin E to protect the skin from external aggressors, and produces a rich and full lather which helps to prevent razor drag irritation. The vitamin-enriched shave soap is specially formulated to produce a thick lather inside the brush. It contains bisabaol, which calms and soothes the skin, and has been tested and approved by dermatologists.

The British tradition of exploration and travel inspires the Nomad collection for men. Infused with the woody, aromatic Nomad scent of ginger it also has notes of refreshing citron and green bamboo. The fragrance is an exotic mélange of Malaysian teak and Indian sandalwood and clove from Zanzibar. Refills are available.

Founded in 1972 by Cyrus Harvey, Crabtree & Evelyn has evolved from a small, family-run business which specialised in fine soaps from around the world, to an international company, well known and respected for its original fragrances, luxurious toiletries, gourmet foods and gifts for those who enjoy a sophisticated lifestyle.

Ingredients

Palm kernel oil (emollient), glycerin (moisturizing), Vitamin E (soothing, antioxidant), fragrance notes: ginger, citron, teak, sandalwood, green bamboo.

Worth every penny 1 Mar 2011
Would have given this shaving soap 10 stars if it were poossible.I hesitated over the cost - who wouldn't? All I can say is having the tough stubble I have ,(which the old carbon steel safety blades wouldn't touch) is that after 75 years of pain this soap gives the greatest lather and the smoothest shave - pain free.Use whatever blades on the market today, shaving is Nirvana with this Soap.Never thought I would say this.A.Murphy.

I'll admit I haven't ever used shaving soap that costs much more than this. Perhaps there is something to be gained from spending twice as much?

All I know is this soap smells nice, lathers into a thick foam and is still going strong after several months shaving.

I suppose one drawback: when traveling, the lid is inclined to just fall off, as it is only resting on the bowl. I just use an elastic band, but if you care too much about appearances you might want something more in keeping with the pretty wooden bowl.

I have slowly progressed from the can foam to cream to soap. The last one I used was Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream (150 g), I love the smell and its easy and quick to lather. I decided to try a different approach and use a soap. Soaps are meant to last longer and so offer better value for money.

The presentation is excellent. A cake of shaving soap inside a wooden bowl. The lid sits loosely on top and looks great in the bathroom.

I thought it would be harder to lather, so using a warm wetted brush started to swirl the brush on the soap. I must have gotten too much water on the soap as it lathered a lot. I then proceeded to lather in my usual large mug. It produced an abundance of lather but was a bit watery for my taste. This was due to too much water being on the brush. A stronger shake to remove excess water is all that is needed. A firmer bristle will produce a lather more easily than a soft tipped brush.

The smell, although nice, is not as clean and pleasant as the plain sandalwood. Next time I will but the sandalwood soap as I prefer the smell over anything else out there.

Overall a great product and would recommend it.

overrated
I've tried lots of soaps. This is a bit expensive for what it is - quite drying, and not so creamy

I like the smell, but it isn't the best. Read more

Pretty good, but...
Seems to dry out very quickly. It doesn't leave my face dry afterwards, though, which is a tremendous boon. Nice smell, too.

Not as good as I was hoping
Soap smell nice but not exclusive ... I would say it smell rather too cheap (too synthetic) for the price you have to pay for it. Read more

Soapy Goodness
This is a bargain, looks good in the refillable wooden bowl. I use a badger hair brush and it needs very little effort to work into a great lather that smells good too! Read more

Buying shave soap online was a concern - how was I to know what it smelt like? Would I accidentally have shelled out a few quid and ended up smelling like a girl? Read more

Great smell but soap doesnt do it for me
This stuff smells fantastic I rate the smell 5 stars. However it produces a very thin lather and took more force/longer than I would expect to create the foam with the brush. Read more
