Product Description

What happens when the very beautiful and sexy Maria Brooks, now Elena Johnson, a woman hiding out in Provence, France, from the California legal authorities, meets Jordan Kramer, a handsome art theft detective from Los Angeles?

He's looking for stolen California paintings reportedly for sale in Provence. She's trying to stay under the radar. Both share a love of food and wine. Will Jordan find Pierre, the French chef who's suspected of being the art theft? And who are those young Afghan girls hiding out in his parents' home?

If you liked Dianne Harman's award-winning novel, Blue Coyote Motel, you don't want to miss Coyote in Provence. Great mystery, wine, food, and art in romantic Provence.
Blue Coyote Motel, the first book in the Coyote Series, was a quarter finalist in Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Award contest, a Goodreads Psychological Thriller Book of the Month, and an e-thriller Book of the Month. Coyote in Provence, CLUE contest award finalist, continues the story of Maria, the captivating character in the trilogy

I read the first book and thought it was only average but I already bought all three in a Kindle package deal for only about £2 so I might as well carry on. You are not going to be intellectually challenged by this book, but I guess that's not the point. If it's late at night and you're too tired to read something more stimulating, it might be OK. It's the kind of thing that's good say if you're just sitting in the garden half watching the kids and half reading with a glass of wine and want to relax without taxing the brain too much.

If you loved the first book, you will probably like this. If you didn't, you probably won't. The first book probably has a more interesting story overall in my personal opinion, but there is not much difference. The contrived story with hard to believe plot coincidences (unless you believe in God guiding and directing our lives to a purpose, which I don't, although the author may or may not be hinting at this as the reason for the contrived plotting) and wooden unrealistic dialogue is back again. A few slight differences from the first one: this time, the women play a stronger role rather than being simply the partners of their men, or objects of sexual desire. The cast is less ensemble and more focused on about 3 lead characters this time.

The romance part is more intense this time, and I enjoyed it, although not written with any particular skill or originality. The book is probably more to women's tastes than men's I would guess, although that's obviously not going to be true for everyone.

There is a quite a lot about the quality of food with descriptions of dishes in Michelin starred restaurants in the region and the lifestyle in Provence being quite a part of the book.

I read the first book in the Coyote Series, Blue Coyote Motel: 1 (Coyote Series) It was outstanding, and it stimulated my appetite to read the second book in the series. I anticipated reading something exquisite, and I was not disappointed. I read this book in the manner that one would approach a fine gourmet meal. My friend, close your eyes for a moment and "see" this with me please...

There is candlelight, there is wine, and the profile of your lover is bathed in soft moonlight. The candlelight flickers in the gentle breeze... Can you "see" it?

With this mindset, you will miss no details of the author's craft. This is exactly the same way you would allow no detail to escape your remembrance. So read on, without undue haste. Author Dianne Harman has brought us to Provence, France, a time and place that evokes our imagination of a life well-lived. Provence is real... And so we read on...

With deliberate care we sink into the sentences, suspending disbelief so as not to disturb the atmosphere created by the author's artistry. With broad brush strokes, she created characters we can care about, a place and a time that is evocative of the best that French culture has to offer. We gently linger on the words, the thoughts, the deeds, and the motivations of the protagonist. What is her problem? Doesn't she have...everything? Yes, she does.

Yes, but having everything your heart could possibly desire, with no effort required, is a boring proposition. And so Maria Brooks, now Elena Johnson, decides to get a job. This is our precipitating event. Without it, we have no story, with it, we have everything that is yet to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Book! 12 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Coyote in Provence is a shining example of what contemporary literature should be. The elegance and brilliance is in the simplicity and manner in which it is written, conveying a sense of realism and captivating the reader into the world of Maria Brooks, aka Elena Johnson. The tale is richly descriptive in making you wish you were in Provence with a backdrop that is breathtaking. Original and refreshing that will leave you with a longing for more. Dianne Harman is a gifted writer who knows how to use language to paint a masterpiece. It is certainly no surprise her works are award winners. A fantastic book, a fantastic series that I can recommend, an exceptionally good read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner! 13 Aug 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the second book in the series. Book 1 was wonderful and I like Coyote in Provence (Coyote Series Book 2) by Dianne Harman even more. I love how this author grabs you from the first line. “Since arriving in Provence several months earlier, Elena had avoided contact with people, afraid someone would discover her secret.” Why is she in France? What secret? How is she avoiding people? I had to know everything. And Harman leads us along this suspenseful story while infusing the pages with great food and wine, romance and mystery. Lovely settings, and an addictive writing style combined with a well-crafted plot make this book another winner. I can’t wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense and intrigue! 22 Aug 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Hiding in France under a fake name to avoid being arrested for the murder of her husband, Maria applies for a job at a local bakery where she meets up with handsome Jordan, an American detective searching for stolen art. They fall into each other's arms and the suspense begins. Will Jordan discover Maria's sordid past, and if he does, will he turn her in? You won't regret picking up the book to find out. You'll see great descriptions of the French landscape as well as plenty of references to their fine cuisine. I even learned how to prepare veal in buttermilk. Intrigue, fine food and love -- what else do you want?

I own the book.
