Review

I ve spent 40 years studying the golf swing and I feel that this method is as good as anything I ve ever seen and it s one I ll be sticking with. The DVD is far more informative than the excellent instruction in Golf International; pictures really do speak a thousand words. Overall it s a superb piece of teaching. 5.0 out of 5 stars Simple clear instruction 21 Feb 2009
By Mr G
Excellent! Simple clear instruction - Pay attention to the analogies, really helpful but easily missed until you've watched it a couple of times. Drills are simple, easy to put into practice give instant results. I've played this weekend and ball striking is defiantly better. Early days but confidence is up, we just need some sun now!
I would highly recommend this DVD to all levels of golfer as it simplifies all the key areas, grip, stance, plane, impact etc and clears up a few myths at the same time... Brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spot on with instruction and drills 11 Dec 2008
By C. Rees
I have owned this DVD for this past season and it is often used.
I previously bought both of Nick Faldo's vidoes plus Greg Norman's and Ian Woosnam's for which I used as a beginner though intermediate onto single handicapper. I wish that this had come out earlier and I could have reached 6 handicap a lot earlier and saved some money.

It really explains how to properly create and store power on the back swing and how to use this power correctly on the way down.
None of the other afore mentioned videos showed how to use the arms/hands and club face into impact. This alone made it worth while for me.
Remembering how to swing like shown was via drills which could not have been easier. These drills are so easy and perfect that everthing I have done over the previous 10 years seemed a waste.

I Highly recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd buy it. 20 Oct 2007

This is pretty good. I've gone from worrying about whether I'm going to hit the ball cleanly to thinking "where do i want to put this?". I've played for a while but was generally stuck around 20-22.

I found watching it a couple of times was required for some of the instruction to sink in. A crucial sentence can be deceptively full of required actions which form essential cogs in the way this DVD sets about teaching a repetitive swing. A second or third watch may be helpful. Combined with the practice drills and a few trips to the driving range this will improve your golf.

Bought it in July. In October I was 10 shots better than the day I bought it. Lower scores, higher expectations...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great teaching, simply put 22 Mar 2009
By Danny C
Pete Cowen is straight-talking Northerner - he teaches correct technique in a simple no-nonsense way, unlike many other golf instruction DVD's.

As a former 6 handicapper who's 'lost it a bit' I found the sections on posture, balance, right shoulder stability, and correct forearm rotation very useful. His idea of creating 'pressure' instead of just talking about 'power' immediately makes sense.

Although only 64 minutes long, it's altogether recommended. (In the extras section I particularly enjoyed Pete's frank assessment of some of the great European players who he's currently working with ie. Oliver Wilon's 'terrible body action' and Darren Clarke's propensity to get 'completely disconnected')

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice swing 13 Sep 2009
By Brief
As the box says, it is an advanced lesson. So, as it assumes some knowledge on the part of the pupil it is not for a complete beginner. If you have played the game but found that your progress has come to a standstill then this dvd may help. It addresses some basic/fundamental issues and gives helpful drills to use. I've watched it just once and have used it's advice for about a month now and as a consequence I am hitting all shots better and with greater consistency. I have more confidence as a result, and have some concepts/cures to fall back on if I mess up during a round. I play off 17. I reckon that in a number of friendly games with friends I've regularly beaten my handicap, cutting about 3 or 4 shots per round, perhaps with more to come once I fully get into the swing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional 29 May 2009
I've watched many, many, many golf instruction DVDs (far too many realistically) and this one is about as good as it gets.

Pete has some great and simple ways to help you drill a decent swing together. It's tough to learn a swing from a video but if money is tight you won't go far wrong with this.

Much clearer and specific than DL - though may be a bit much to take in on first viewing. Just about to sit down to watch his bunker dvd "The Ripple Effect" and I'm really looking forward to it. Definitely worth the price as will be able to watch it again and again until it sinks in - unlike lessons or aimless range roving! Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!! 15 Jan 2010
By JezP
Brilliant. Simple as that. Really clear, effective coaching with practical do-able drills. If you think your swing feels perfect but you don't get the results you expect - this might explain why. I've bought 500 page books, magazines, manuals and they're just too much to take in. This is a half hour DVD that really hits the spot with clear explaination and practical help.
