A lot of music books lack items that allow the rank amateur to get a foothold on the material. In this case, the authors included enough basic information that a total novice could pick up a guitar, work the fingers of his/her left hand around the neck, and over time pick out the chords necessary to 'do' the song. That is a nice advance over many song books. At the same time, the authors have included a very nice mix of traditional and silver screen cowboy songs in the collection--a little something for almost everyone! Recommended in two ways. 1) for the chord helps that allow a total beginner to gain a foothold on the material, and 2) for the authors including a very good selection of songs.
