Book Description

15 May 2001
If you like your cowboys sexy, your heroines forgetful and your marriages convenient, this gentle parody of cowboy romances will leave you with a smile on your face and a sigh on your lips. Discover romantic comedy at its best in this captivating tale of a woman who finds her one true love and the cowboy hero afraid to give his heart. Romance author Michelle Garrison is on a mission to learn more about the American West. Her books are no longer selling and her editor has given her an ultimatum--learn what cowboys are really like, then write the next bestseller. Tag Martin is desperate for a bride. If he doesn't marry before his 40th birthday, his grandmother will sign away the deed to the ranch he's worked and managed for his entire adult life. Coop Jones has been Tag's sidekick since Tag was barely kicking. Almost 80, he's been pining for the love of Tag's grandmother since she was only 17. An avid romance fan, he's concocted a fantastic plan to stage an MOC--a marriage of convenience for the uninitiated--in order to save the ranch for Tag. Lenore Martin at 78 is a widow with a mission. Get that grandson married and his hard-headed cowboy sidekick to realize she's not too old to romance. There's sizzle left in the old gal yet. Add a little amnesia, a few white lies, a flop-eared dog, the requisite white stallion and a love too hot to handle, and you've got a rowdy romp on the wild side with COWBOY IN MY POCKET.

4.0 out of 5 stars Misunderstandings abound! 2 Mar 2014
Format:Paperback
Ths book is a rerelease frm this established author who is more famous for her paranormal novels I think then her contemporary work but it's a lovely fun read. This is a well written light hearted western romance and will appeal to lovers of cowboys everywhere.
Michelle Garrison is a writer living in New York but for some reason she's lost her muse. Her editor has the crazy idea that if she spends time on a "Dude Ranch" working the land her currant western work in progress will benefit. Michelle doesn't really want to leave the city but reluctantly agrees to give it a go.
When Michelle arrives the weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse and her car leaves the road during a storm which results in Michelle hitting her head and losing her memory. When she's discovered a case of mistaken identity sees her getting "married" to Tag Martin in a bid to keep his ranch. Michelle believes she's the heroine in her novel a real life cowgirl and now it looks like she's married a genuine cowboy! What starts out as a confusing relationship soon turns to a passionate one and as Michelle starts to get her memory back the one thing she doesn't want to lose is Tag!
I love this authors work although I will admit that it's usually her Wolf tales that I read. This is a far cry from those books but it still has the high standard of writing that her readers have come to expect. This author never disappoints and her words and dialogue always flow beautifully.
This light hearted western has just about every romantic cliche you can imagine in it! From amnesiac brides to foals being born, from sexy cowboys to crotchety ranch hands this book has it all. Oh and did I mention a ranch that needs saving? It's a romantic comedy in many was as the number of misunderstandings just keep piling up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Parody or Not? Your Choice 29 Nov 2001
By Pam Ripling - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Either way you'll be delighted with this romantic comedy from Kate Douglas. This book traipses lightly through all the romance novel cliches, from amnesiac-bride to cowboy-hero-desperate-to-save-the-family-ranch, yet manages to satisfy both the hard core romance reader and pundits alike. Sexy, bouncy and maybe even a little rowdy, COWBOY is an entertaining, quick read you won't want to miss. If there is a sequel in the works, I'll be the first to buy it.

Cowboy in My Pocket by Kate Douglas
This is an early novel, re-released this month by the very popular author of Wolf Tales, and other paranormal romance. There are no wolves, shape shifters, or vampires, and things that go bump in the night. Just a cowboy, and a city girl!
The best way to begin this review, is by a direct quote from our Hero....."It all started with a marriage of convenience, the deed to a huge cattle ranch, and a beautiful redhead with amnesia."
Taggart Martin (Tag) is our hero, who wants nothing more than his life as a rancher, and the deed to his family land from his grandmother. Michelle Garrison, our heroine, is a city girl, living in New York city, writing romance novels. Successful, and happy, what more does she need?
Next we meet Mark Connor, her very sexy editor. He has just rejected her latest manuscript, a western. She knows nothing of cowboys, ranching or horses..or even Colorado, where she bases her novel She is forced to take two weeks vacation on a dude Ranch , Columbine Camp, to learn the basics. She is not happy! To save her novel, she flies to Colorado, rents a car, and with a copy of a magazine "Western Horseman", she starts her journey. A very dangerous storm blows in, and changes her life forever! The deceptions, and lies are around every corner, and the story within the story is as entertaining as our Cowboy, and his City Girl!
A must novel for readers who enjoy Western Romance, with some laughter, and HOT SEX. Who said you can't make love while riding a horse????
