Product Description

Young, homeless, pregnant minority women and their unborn infants are dying in the emergency rooms in East Los Angeles...

When three pregnant, homeless women die within a week of one another inside the emergency room of County Hospital in East Los Angeles, Dr. Kelly Morales begins to question why and how. When Dr. Morales attempts to question her colleague pathologist Dr. Jake Hamilton he becomes agitated and obviously anxious at her questions. Hours later Dr. Hamilton is murdered.

A cryptic e-mail is sent to journalist Georgia (Gem) Michaels insisting she look into the brutal slaying of a San Diego County family in 2008 that was chalked up to The Mexican Cartel. The e-mail also insists she keeps an eye on her neighbor. At first, Gem thinks the e-mail is nothing but a joke, but her gut tells her that maybe checking out her handsome but odd neighbor is worth her time.

Terrorized and brutalized chemist Dr. Ryan Horner is being held against his will. He knows that if he does not do the bidding of a group who call themselves The Brotherhood that the lives of his wife and children are at grave risk.

In a race against good versus true evil, Dr. Kelly Morales, Gem Michaels, Dr. Ryan Horner, and Detective Tony Pazzini search to uncover the truth and expose it behind the deaths and murders that make up Project Covert Reich.

Note: This book contains explicit language and graphic violence.

"Covert Reich is a taut thriller of good versus evil, right versus wrong and the fight of a lifetime to determine which side will come out on top." Lori Gondelman of Best Reviews and lorisreadingcorner.com

Interesting idea and not so completely far fetched as people may think. It was quite fast paced. Forcing eugenics upon the population without their knowledge or consent, not a new but a bold idea. I think it started going off in too many directions at one point and in doing so the author lost track a little of the actual main character and her police friend. I also think that towards the end it lost a little gusto and ventured from a thriller into a Mills and Boone type ending right along with the unrealistic dialogue. That was a shame, because it was a good read. I received a free copy of this book for my review.

great book, abhorrent subject 21 Dec 2011
By C. Williams - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Ack! Almost had my review finished and accidently deleted it. For the second time...

At the beginning of this story, I wondered if I could get through it. There was just such a horrible, bloody scene at the start. But I did get through it, and though the story deals with a truly abhorrent eugenics plan, I did really enjoy it.

There were more than a few points of view, but they were done SO well, and the voices were so different, I thought it added immensely to the story. They start out unconnected, and as the story moves along, they weave together and become entwined in a really natural, believable way. The conclusion is perfectly built, no need for a deus ex machina here.

The romance between Dr. Kelly Morales and Detective Tony Pazzini is really nicely done. Loved the other stories of Dr. Ryan Horner and Gem Michaels. All the characters were so well developed, it was a joy to read.

I love to read a tightly woven suspense story like this. In spite of the subject matter, and loss of many lives, I really enjoyed this book.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a review I was happy to give. I have enjoyed every book by this author that I have read, and heartily recommend all of them.

Another Good Read from Alexander 27 Feb 2012

REVIEW - COVERT REICH

Having previously read Daddy's Home by A. K. Alexander, I looked forward to reading Covert Reich. I was pleased to see that Alexander has again written a book that keeps the reader wondering what will happen next. References to politics make it seem very current, as well as references to reading on one's Kindle, which made me smile. Yes, there was extreme violence at the beginning, but I seem to be offended by extreme violence only when it is in the movies. The best part of the book was the fast-moving plot, followed closely by the well-drawn characters. My only complaint would be that I find that having one of the bad guys just happen to live next door to the reporter who is pivotal to the plot seems to be a little too much of a coincidence, not to mention the fact that that same bad guy just happens to be related to a potential presidential candidate who also is part of the plot.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it, but I probably would have purchased it anyway and will read another book by this author.

Prejudice, Power and Greed! 22 Feb 2012
By Mel Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I wasn't a big fan of the violent parts in this story. But it was needed, to show the extent of the boundaries the bad guys were willing to cross in order to achieve their goals. The subject matter is very disturbing, but very well written. The characters were very believable and realistically portrayed.
I shudder to think that something like that could actually happen in this day and age. However, I am not naive enough to think that it couldn't though. Money, power and prejudices are prevalent evils in today's society. This story just proves it.
This is the second book I have read by this author, and I'm looking forward to reading many more!
I received a complimentary copy of this book to review.
