I've watched series 1-3 twice and loved the show apart from the grating intro theme music, which I'm delighted to see has been removed from season 4.
This is the 1st time I have ever written a review and have enjoyed shows such as Lost, Prisoner of War & Vikings. I'm 46 btw.
My motivation to review comes from wanting to champion this well put together cast from all over the world, when there are real moments of tension during some episodes, (where my own heart was pounding), each separate story line is interwoven into the bigger picture and illustrate how global agencies potentially operate and best of all, the chemistry between the characters.
The relationship between Annie and Eyal is super hot charged in seasons 1-3 & you find yourself wanting them to get together. I understand why the focus changed from Mossad to Columbia (a show has to remain fresh), but I found myself waiting for Eyal to make an appearance throughout each episode!!! I've a feeling there's more to that story next season! Annie & Auggie, well we all want that to work! You just want to pinch his cheeks & hug him :)
Joan & Arthur although present, play lesser roles than previously and one can only assume that Kari Machett wanted to spend time with her real life baby. I hope we follow their rise back to power next season.
Gripe - Teo. What was that about? He lasts for a 9 hour car journey, says something nice with his dad, then BOOM, he's dead. . . . I bet my salary that he isn't!! He'll be in deep deep deep cover that he couldn't tell his dad about as he's gone to take down the entire ALC or something equally mysterious. Mark my words - he will return.
Gripe 2 - Now & again the cliched and unbelievability of certain things gets on my nerves.

The one thing I have long lamented with Covert Affairs is their lack of good story arcs. Oh, they try, but they never quite seem to pull it off. All that changed with season 4. In fact, it was very focused on story arc and I could hardly take my eyes away from the screen.

The season picks up where the last one left off, which means that our favorite couple, Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Christopher Gorham) have finally gotten together! However, it's not all good news since Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin) has been released from prison and has vowed to take down the people he holds responsible for the death of his son. That would be Annie and Auggie as well as Joan and Arthur Campbell (Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher). The results will be a roller coaster ride as Annie tries to walk the line between getting Henry to believe she is on his side while still really working with the others. Meanwhile, Arthur has a few skeletons in his closet and Joan learns she is pregnant.

Believe me, this season is one wild ride after another.

While many shows on the USA Network have gone with case of the week and story arc, that's not the case here. Almost every one of these episodes ties in to the Henry story line. But that's a good thing. With the show actually focused on it, they do a remarkable job of upping the stakes and keeping us guessing until the very end of the season. Believe me, I didn't want to miss a single moment, and I was thrilled that we had a very short break between the first part and the back half of the season.

I will, however, mention one complaint. They start the season with an exciting scene and then flashback to show us how we got there. Not only do I hate this narrative technique, but it wasn't needed.

One of my favourite TV shows. Love Annie, the main character. In this series she is overtaken by a single minded determination to take down Henry Wilcox, and no setback will stop her. Full of suspense. Love it! Love Annie's development in this series.

Absolutely beautifully acted engaging series. The scripts are very diverse and relevant. Love this series.
It has an edge but not as hard as CSI for example. If you like this you may also like 'Castle'.

Addictive. It is one of those shows were you instantly become attached to the characterters and care about what happens. The plot can be predictable but in a good way I Watched seasons one and two on Netflix in one week and was disappointed that season 3 and 4 were unavailable. I ordered season 3 on DVD and again devoured it so was made up when I found out that I could stream season 4 instantly from amazon. I'm torn now as to whether to devour or tKe my time with the last season!
