Adrian Shaughnessy is a graphic designer and writer from UK. He realized earlier the creativeness and meaningful of Music covers, so he decided to collect them. After a while, that collection was ready for publishing in 2008, namely Cover Art By : New Music Graphic. The majority of young people keen to work in the music industry through designing and writing, But they need to come up with an innovative work to live with competition. such an inspiration might be found in Adrian book. Because it is contain amazing pieces of cover art works. Belong with that, for each collection, you will find an interview with the designer and brief information for each design.

First designs were mixed of Traditional Art including Typography and Drawing. The designers made them simple but a strong. It gives a feeling that the design is talking to you. Although the covers formed by few colors and sometimes just white and black, yet it focused on symbols. Other designs were categorized as a Digital Art. They are modern and colorful, and they were made by mixing the photos with drawing. For example, Rotten Cocktails covers were made by using the power of active color such as red and orange and manipulatory photos.

Not only that, even the new kinds of Art like Pixels and Vector Art were included in Adrian book. In addition, If you are interested in the weird kind of design, I believe you will find your desire on Ghost Box chapter. You may find it useless and ugly. Nevertheless, it is required from some kinds of music or movies which they classified as a science fiction.

I want to say that Cover Art By : New Music Graphic is a useful for whom work in the designing field. It is worth buying. However, Most of samples inside the book it is just reflect the author taste.

Brilliant book, bought it for my boyfriend but I'm thinking of keeping it for a while and having a good look through.
Broken up into separate artists overviews, with well presented pictures of their work. Especially liked the Nouvelle Vague covers.

Only lost a star because the front cover was slightly torn, but you definitely get your moneys worth! Get it!
