For fans of legal thrillers Courting Trouble is a 'must read'; it is a fast-paced thriller that is definitely one that will keep you awake all night desperately trying to finish reading it. For people who have read Scottoline's books before it has all the favourite characters; Mary DiNuzio, Judy Carrier and Bennie Rosato. But the main character, Anne Murphy, is one that was quietly introduced in Scottoline's last book, The Vendetta Defence.
Although fundamentally Courting Trouble appeals to fans of legal thrillers I found that the book was not wholly about that, instead I found that it was a tale about friendship. For anyone who has moved to a new town to start a new job they will immediately identify with Murphy, the main character. Courting Trouble is about how we make judgements about people, especially before we have even met or spoken to the person.
Courting Trouble is a great novel to introduce someone to the legal thriller genre, as the tale of tracking a deadly stalker is so closely interwoven with the tale of developing friendships. Courting Trouble is yet another triumph for Scottoline who again proves what an accomplished writer she is.
