E-book extras: "A Little More About Lisa"; "One Night on My Book Tour": Essay; "The Novels" (Chapter One from each of Lisa's eight prior novels). How many people get to solve their own murder? In Courting Trouble, New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline is back with another fast-paced thriller that sends a young woman lawyer racing to find out who's trying to kill her -- after she's wrongly been reported murdered. Anne Murphy is smart, gorgeous, and young -- the red-headed rookie at the Philadelphia law firm of Rosato & Associates. She leaves town for the Fourth of July weekend to prepare for a high-profile trial, but when she buys her morning newspaper, her own photo is plastered all over the front page. And the headline - LAWYER MURDERED - supposedly refers to her. Anne sets out to find her killer, playing dead in order to stay alive. The investigation takes all of Anne's boldness and ingenuity - plus a pair of red satin hot pants. But her knack for courting trouble makes it almost impossible for Anne to play well with others, defend the lawsuit, and fight her urge to sleep with the enemy. Then an unexpected event places her in lethal jeopardy and leaves her with everything to lose - including her life.

For fans of legal thrillers Courting Trouble is a 'must read'; it is a fast-paced thriller that is definitely one that will keep you awake all night desperately trying to finish reading it. For people who have read Scottoline's books before it has all the favourite characters; Mary DiNuzio, Judy Carrier and Bennie Rosato. But the main character, Anne Murphy, is one that was quietly introduced in Scottoline's last book, The Vendetta Defence.
Although fundamentally Courting Trouble appeals to fans of legal thrillers I found that the book was not wholly about that, instead I found that it was a tale about friendship. For anyone who has moved to a new town to start a new job they will immediately identify with Murphy, the main character. Courting Trouble is about how we make judgements about people, especially before we have even met or spoken to the person.
Courting Trouble is a great novel to introduce someone to the legal thriller genre, as the tale of tracking a deadly stalker is so closely interwoven with the tale of developing friendships. Courting Trouble is yet another triumph for Scottoline who again proves what an accomplished writer she is.

Once again we return to the exciting and yet happily familiar world of Rosato and Associates. The characters have been lovingly concieved by Scottoline and they continue to grow and become more like old friends with every novel. The plot as usual, is racy and gripping and with a few laugh out loud moments thrown in for good measure, this is the perfect holiday read.
