In this utterly chilling book, Carol Anne Davis skilfully walks the tightrope between either bombarding the reader with unnecessary detailed trivia or gory sensationalism and instead, faithfully chronicles the depravity that mixed and same-sex couples descend to, from the 19th Century to the present day.
Her research has been meticulously carried out over a period of years and for English readers in particular, the full horror of the crimes carried out by Brady and Hindley and also the almost sub-human Fred West and his wife are recent enough to be in many reader's memories.
Fifty-eight people who were involved in a whole catalogue of murders for monetary gain, sexual gratification or purely for the thrill of it, are recorded in this thoroughly well-written book, which is the stuff that nightmares are made of.
To that section of society who is resolutely opposed to the death penalty, I venture to suggest that after reading this book, they will change their mind; if I were of their persuasion, I would.
Highly recommended - although not for those of nervous disposition!
