Countrywise Kitchen proved one of the most popular food series of 2010, with viewing figures regularly hitting over 4 million when it aired on ITV1 primetime. Now, for the first time, its co-presenter and chef Mike Robinson brings you the best recipes of the 2010 and 2011 series - plus dishes from its sister show Countrywise, which is now entering its third series. There are lots of recipes for cooking with country ingredients, from partridge to chicken, lamb to pork, salmon to mackerel, blackberries to plums. Stews, roasts and soups sit alongside cakes, puddings and jams in this accessible cookbook that celebrates the best of British ingredients in dishes that herald from far and wide - from a roast shoulder of pork to a Thai noodle soup. All the recipes are simple to prepare and even those with the most surprising flavours are created from everyday ingredients that can be bought from the supermarket. Packed with information on selecting the best ingredients, eating seasonally and foraging, this book is an invaluable source of information as well as a delicious collection of recipes.

Product Description

Review

This is a lovely book, which features some sumptuous recipes calling for country ingredients. As all the recipes are simple to prepare and Mike offers advice on how to find fresh top quality ingredients, this is a real family cookbook that should keep everyone happy. --Helen Peacocke for The Oxford Times, December 2011

If anyone knows his way around a piece of meat, it's Mike Robinson. Game dishes take up a fair chunk - but there are plenty of other meat dishes (and quite a few nice veg and fish options too), making the book relevant long past game season. --Food and Travel magazine, January 2012

Full of autumnal flavour --Mark Taylor for the Bristol Evening Post, 5th November 2011

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fabulous book by Mike Robinson 10 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
I bought this on pre order as I was delighted to see that Mike Robinson had released another cookery book for us all to enjoy.
Real country food for real country people. Awash with recipes and fabulous pictures of our Mike (My favourite page 9!)!
I was thrilled to see his beef suet pudding in the book - I ate this in his pub and it was scrummy.
Buy this book with confidence, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Delicious! 29 Feb 2012
By Pat B
Format:Hardcover
being a fan of the TV series Countrywise and Countrywise Kitchen Cookbook, i was very excited to hear about the new book coming out. Dropping lots of not-so-subtle hints, i was lucky to receive a copy for Christmas and love it! it's got some delicious recipes - i tried the Roast goose with pork recipe on New Year's Day and it was divine. i'm going to try the Sticky stem ginger and walnut cake next - the recipe photogrpahy is amazing. i hope my pudding looks just as good. Eagerly awaiting the start of the new series of Countrywise Kitchen in March.
