A brilliant soundtrack for a brilliant movie, it really blows you away.Perfectly compliments the movie, all the tunes bring out the emotions of the times and the scenes in the film. A must have for any reggae lover.

Countryman is one of those albums that has always been there and doesn`t get airtime for ages. Then it`ll come out and you won`t listen to anything else for weeks. Some classic tracks by some classic artistes. A MUST HAVE for any true roots fan...

Easy Skankin'

I remember listening to this album (then on tape, of course) when I was a little kid, maybe three or four, in my dad's 1980 gold Subaru, bouncing around with my sister in the back of the station wagon. So naturally, this sountrack holds fond memories for me. But even now, when I play it for my friends, they're amazed at the quality of this music they've never even heard of. I happen to be a reggae buff, a huge one, so I could tell you of more obscure collections, but this one definitely rocks, without question. The movie, too, is incredibly worthwhile. I don't know if you can get it through Amazon (I remember a time when you could get it absolutely nowhere) but if you ever see it, be sure to pick it up. You might want to watch it a few times (it can be hard to understand at times) but it's more than just an action movie. It's deep, man. Dig it. And dig this album, if you haven't dug it already. It's totally worth it. Tubular.

the best roots reggae collection of all time

Yes, The Harder They Come was a break-out movie (and soundtrack) for reggae. And that is a great album, which you should pick up if you have any interest at all in reggae and the culture it came from. Countryman is an underrated soundrack, but one of my favorite reggae albums (and I have hundreds). If you haven't seen the movie, some of the dialogue and background sounds will seem a little weird (and maybe even scary), but the music can't be beat. You get some lesser-known material by Marley (some great songs) -- Small Axe, Natural Mystic, Pass It On -- and so so much more. This is REAL reggae, far superior from all the collections that are released and repackaged every year.

Oooooh, Ahhhhh

This soundtrack is great because it includes all the full versions of the songs that are in the movie only for a few seconds. There's a song on here that I've been looking for everywhere called "Ooh! Aah!" by the Fabulous Five. And to the best of my knowledge you can't find that song anywhere else. I've been looking for that song ever since I heard it on ksbr in the late 80's(!) The whole cd's bomb tho' & there are so many classic tracks that you can't go wrong with this selection.
