Product Description

Many superstitions exist relating to encounters with foxes and seeing a single fox is considered to bring good luck. The fox has lent its name to many plants such as foxtail lilies, foxtail sedges, a purple orchid known as 'fox stones' and red valerian, which is known as 'fox's brush' in parts of south-west England. The most obvious fox-plant link is the foxglove. This name stems from the belief that foxes wore the flowers as gloves on their paws. The run-up to Christmas can be quite a stressful time, so taking time to connect with nature is very important, which is why we chose to paint this image for you of a beautiful fox running wild through the snow. If you like the Christmas Advent Calendar, why not try the 2014 Country Wisdom & Folklore Diary, which is full of interesting snippets, stories, recipes, places to visit and things to do throughout the year; or the 2014 Country Wisdom & Folklore Wall Calendar and Simple Moon Planting Guide - just the thing for busy people who prefer to follow the year with a wall calendar.

5.0 out of 5 stars alternative advent calendar 8 Dec 2013

My very old kids were still hankering after advent calendars, but didnt want to buy the regular cheap chocolate varieties.
For me this is perfect, each window gives a yule based message, I know quite a bit about folklore so this is a good reminder to me on the true meaning of the winter festival. Would buy again and also have been using the country wisdom diary for the past two years. If you see Christmas as a midwinter festival then buy this.

My teenage daughter really liked this calendar I got for her. Information and images 'behind' windows brought a natural view of the festive season.
