John Denver is one of the most successful and best loved recording artists of the 20th century. His easy going manner, fine voice, superb songwriting and dedication to environmental issues all combined to build a huge global fanbase that has continued to grow since his untimely death in a plane crash in 1997. Previously available only as part of the Around The World Live boxset this concert from the NEC in Birmingham in 1986 is now available separately for the first time. The show is packed with classic John Denver songs all delivered with his characteristic charm and good humour.

I would just like to thank whoever it was that made the decision to release this, I have coveted this for such a long time, I feel like it's my birthday!

I first saw this on the BBC back in the eighties, it was broadcast in two parts a week apart which I videotaped and kept for many years, then with the technology available, I decided to transfer the recording to DVD. Unfortunately the tape was beyond reclaim and, following many, many attempts to track this down,(even writing to the BBC), I was resigned to never ever seeing it again!
This has to be my very favourite recording of a John Denver concert, not only does the set list cover just about the whole of his career, but the backing line-up is just impossible to better! Not only is there is Jerry Scheff, Glen D Hardin and the great James Burton, all late of the Emmylou Harris Hot Band, and also Elvis's rhythm section, but three fantastic backing vocalists of the highest order, namely Elizabeth Lamers, Dennis Brooks and a girl with one of the most beautiful and emotive voices I think I've ever heard, Conrad Reeder. Her part in 'Fly Away has to be heard! The whole concert, filmed in front of a very appreciative NEC audience, (you can hear a pin drop at times!) leaves one with the 'Feel-Good' factor!

This DVD just has to be in the collection of every John Denver fan! Thank you once again!

John Denver was a class act. Unlike the `pop stars' who will be here today and gone tomorrow, this DVD presents a genuine artist singing wonderful songs to an audience that hasn't been whipped up into a manic frenzy. The contrast between this concert and what passes for entertainment today couldn't be more marked. I first saw this concert nearly 25 years ago and video taped it. That tape was played over and over again until one day I accidentally taped over it. My younger brother (who was 15 at the time) had a little crush on Elizabeth Lamers - one of the backing singers - and he never really forgave me. So I'm thrilled to be able to see this again. You won't need to guess who the first person I lent it to was, and after 25 years he still has a crush on her!

Although, sadly I never got the opportunity to see John Denver perform. His passion for Colarado, conservation, love and life really comes across. His untimely death means I will never get the chance to see him perform live, but in my opinion, this is the next best thing.

As a long time fan of John Denver this lived up to expectations. Just what was needed to while away some time listening to lovely music and lyrics sung by a good artist

This DVD does not disappoint, most of JD's fans will probably have seen the show from back in the day, but it is well produced, and a nice trip down memory lane.

John Denver sang beautifully. He really was such a lovely man, compassionate. This reflects in his songs and his splended performace. Much enjoyed.

How wonderful to be able to buy this DVD having taped the original TV coverage many years ago and now no longer having a video recorder to play it on. I had the pleasure of being in the audience when it was being filmed, the first time I saw John Denver live in concert. A pure voice, a must for any fan. This I will treasure forever
