I would just like to thank whoever it was that made the decision to release this, I have coveted this for such a long time, I feel like it's my birthday!
I first saw this on the BBC back in the eighties, it was broadcast in two parts a week apart which I videotaped and kept for many years, then with the technology available, I decided to transfer the recording to DVD. Unfortunately the tape was beyond reclaim and, following many, many attempts to track this down,(even writing to the BBC), I was resigned to never ever seeing it again!
This has to be my very favourite recording of a John Denver concert, not only does the set list cover just about the whole of his career, but the backing line-up is just impossible to better! Not only is there is Jerry Scheff, Glen D Hardin and the great James Burton, all late of the Emmylou Harris Hot Band, and also Elvis's rhythm section, but three fantastic backing vocalists of the highest order, namely Elizabeth Lamers, Dennis Brooks and a girl with one of the most beautiful and emotive voices I think I've ever heard, Conrad Reeder. Her part in 'Fly Away has to be heard! The whole concert, filmed in front of a very appreciative NEC audience, (you can hear a pin drop at times!) leaves one with the 'Feel-Good' factor!
This DVD just has to be in the collection of every John Denver fan! Thank you once again!
