A very funny and a perceptive caricature of country village life. Julie Highmore is to British manners what Maupin is to San Francisco culture. She might have called it "Tales of the Village". I'm looking forward to a sequel.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. I defie anyone not to recognise something they may have said, a thought they may have had or even a type of person they have known, somewhere in this entertaining book. The main focus of the book is the story and it gallops along - at the same time clear images of location and personality are interwoven seamlessly. I look forward to reading more from this first time author and recommend that you buy the book.

A funny, but accurate, reflection of many real life situations when town meets country.
Couldn't put it down until I came to the end.

One senses a deep store of writing stock in this very contemporary author.

I look forward to the next book.
