Product Description

Do our thoughts really create our reality? Do we exist in more than one universe at once? Can it be proven that consciousness survives physical death? Hazel Courteney sets out in search of answers to these questions and others, on a quest to discover if the ‘ultimate truths’ expounded by today’s spiritual teachers have any truth to them at all.

After an incredible near-death experience in 1998 and some miraculous events that followed, Hazel felt compelled to seek out spiritual masters and leading scientists to help her to uncover what was really going on. The result is this fast-paced book – the story of a spiritual journey on which Hazel meets distinguished yet controversial thinkers who share cutting-edge scientific research and theories that lead her to some staggering conclusions. In the book she examines the growing belief that our universe is nothing but a hologram, projected by an ancient supercomputer or super-mind, and that we are biological computers operating inside a preprogrammed simulator. She considers evidence that other civilisations exist alongside ours in other space/time dimensions; explores the phenomenon of Orbs, strange spheres of light that are now appearing on digital pictures the world over; and hears from one renowned physicist what he believes happened before the Big Bang.

To complement the scientific perspective, Hazel turns to the spiritual as well. From a highly respected shaman/scientist who has spent twenty-five years learning from the ancient knowledge of the shape-shifters of Peru, she receives insight into what happens after we leave the physical body and how we can change the future. At the incredible temples of Damanhur near Turin, she finds out about time travel and how sacred geometry links our world with others. And she discovers how science can actually measure enlightenment. Ultimately, she leaves readers with no doubt about who we really are, where we need to go and why – and how much more we are all capable of than we’ve ever imagined.

5.0 out of 5 stars I found it fascinating!, 2 Feb 2011
I was a bit dubious as some of the reviews on here didn't seem genuine, but I gave this a go anyway, as I felt drawn to read it after seeing an extract in a magazine. I'm glad I did. It's a fascinating read that really helped clarify, for me, what is meant my 'coherence'. It's hard to put into words perhaps, but coherence is that state of being completely at peace with life and oneself, in synch and at one. It is a modern term for the enlightened state long purported by Buddhists among others. "Countdown to Coherence" is written in a semi-travel diary style as the author visits various people who are helping bridge the once divergent fields of spirituality and science. One reviewer complained that she doesn't add anything new herself. I think they've missed the point. The author is or was a journalist (a Daily Mail journalist unfortunately, but for the quality of this book I can almost forgive that! ;)) so she takes a journalistic approach to gathering, arranging and presenting information in this topic. I for one am glad, because it's the opinions of the scientists and experts she interviews that is far more interesting and relevant, although she does nicely try them together.

Now, some of the chapters are more interesting than others and some of the discussion doesn't seem to add much to the overall topic (talk of "orbs" and David Hawkins and his "calibrations" put me off). But I found that if I skipped to the next chapter I was sure to find something else of interest. It's an easy read and I love how she's tied things together. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested - my mother had a look at it, began to read it and absolutely loved it. For me, it highlights the growing developments in the field of science with regard to consciousness and understanding human nature and our true and full potential. It is my hope that I can find some way to put the theory into practise and learn to develop greater 'coherence'. I hope this review was coherent enough. And no, it's not a planted review. I kind of wish it was, I could do with the money!! :-P

4.0 out of 5 stars A Well Documented Piece of Spiritual Journalism!, 20 Mar 2011
By
This book is written in a diary format in which Hazel Courtney is on a mission to find out the latest scientific proof of the paranormal and if there is a life after death. This is a well documented piece of spiritual journalisn as her interviews are gripping and her outlook and attitude is as equally magnetic and really exciting. Always optimistic she reflects, questions and expands on topics such as near death experiences, shamanism, consciousness, spontaneous healing and kundalini experiences as well as much more including the 2012 phenomena.
The people she interviews are Gary Renard, Professor Emeritus William A Tiller, Pofessor Gary E Schwartz, Professor F Travis, Professor Albert Villodo, Robert Schwartz, Harry Oldfield and many more. They are all well known in their field and ambitious in making science and spirituality one thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars science meets spirituality at last, 27 Sep 2010
This is an amazing book! Hazel is a truth seeker. She has dedicated her life to proving via the medium of science what so many people, including the ancient yogis, have always known. However this book pushes the boundaries to mind boggling limits. I defy anyone to read Countdown to Coherence and not be over whelmed, staggered and totally in awe. Be prepared to have some buttons pushed. Tighten your mental seat belt, it's a wild ride.
