Superb! The mans a genius! The girl in the front row looks confused, which for some strange reason is correct! It takes a wee bit of time to get used to the Count, but like anything of great quality you have to come at it slowly and let it creep up on you. Brilliant character comedy at it's bizzare best! I love the count!

Both my wife and - both in our 70s- have watched this DVD and have laughed all the way through.
The DVD (and the CDs) are worth buying, as you can just enjoy a really good laugh, without having to listen to smutty jokes, swearing (which we feel is unnecessary anyway)and with no violence.
It may seem, initially, a little old fashioned humour, but when you listen to, or watch Count Arthur Strong, I am sure will not be able to help yourself laughing.
Watch, listen, and enjoy!

Not as sharp, funny or endearing as the radio series, which are sublime. This stage performance is a bit slow and lacks the joie de vivre of vintage Count Arthur, with his eternal self-belief, hilarious scheming and gullible kind friends. A few good moments but you need patience.

if you saw the live shows of the musical you wont be susprised at how funny this is and at least on dvd you can keep pausing until you stop laughing so you dont miss any. Beware you will never see Eminen or doncaster in the same light. so switch on the dvd on.

I've never seen Count Arthur live except for a few brief tv appearances (which were far too short to get the audience into the idea of his character) and so welcomed this DVD.
It was great to see all the gestures and mannerisms that one so obviously misses out on in the Radio Series. It was great to see Malcolm do his Shakespeare soliliquy and would have enjoyed a bit more of him in the show. My only disappointment? I wish it had been longer...

You either like "the Count" or hate him (judging by responses to his Radio 4 series) but I fall into the former catagory.
The scrapes and scraps Arthur drags himself and those around him into would seem easy to cope with for most of us but his inability to extract himself from a situation without offending, insulting or just confusing everyone is extreemly funny.
I guess the detracters would say that "The Count's" humour is based on the aged of society and as such is politically incorrect but this ignores the fact that many older people find the show just as funny as I do and also ignores the very clever character Steve Delaney has developed.
You could feel sorry for Arthur and his confusing life, living on past glories (he tends to sit in cars with famous people) and mis-interpreting their responses to him but he is so self-possesed and down-right obnoxious it keeps the show in check and allows you to laugh at, as well as with Count Strong.
A "must have" for the fan.

This was a film of the actual stage show, friends & I saw at the Arts Theatre London. We never stopped laughing from the minute we took our seats, til the sad time of leaving!

I happened upon the Count late one night on Radio 4 and was hooked. The sense of humour is brilliant, the writng superb. I laughed out loud so many times which was once a slight embarrasment as I was sitting at traffic lights with the drivers window open. I recommend the whole series of his show. The best comedy around right now as "Sorry, I haven't a clue" is not back yet.
