Product Description

Product Description

It's not easy being a single girl in London, what with bad hair days, commitment-phobic men, and 'healthy' evenings that end up as late-night sessions at the pub. But although she doesn't see it herself, Charlie's got everything going for her. She's bright, fuuny, on the fast track in her advertising job - ans she has just gone blonde. What's more, Daniel the creative director can't keep his hands off her. But Daniel's a lot smoother than the path of love, and Charlie finds herself coping with a series of disasters, as backstabbing colleagues and best friend crises threaten to come between them ...

About the Author

Josie Lloyd grew up in Essex, before going to Goldsmiths' College where she graduated with an honours degree in English and Drama. After a brief time training traders in the City, she embarked on a career in the Sales Promotion industry. After a year she gave up her job, worked as a waitress and freelancer and wrote her first novel, IT COULD BE YOU. She then teamed up with Emlyn Rees to write the bestseller COME TOGETHER, and they have been working together ever since.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read her later books, 23 Aug 2004

I'm a big fan of Josie Lloyd's books with hubbie Emlyn Rees - the latest one We Are Family is a fantastic read.

So I felt a bit let down by this book - to be fair, it's her first novel, but it's formulaic and while the storyline isn't bad, I feel like I've seen the characters in 100 other chick lit books.

Perfectly readable, but go straight for her later stuff

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for the first go - around, 5 Mar 2003

While this is no "Come Together" or "Come Again" by Josie Llyod and Emlyn Rees, I did enjoy it. I came upon this books ages ago ... and because I had love the "Come.. etc." books I jumped at the chance to read more by Josie Lloyd. I found the characters to be interested and fun.... but, the story lacking in the punch and romance that I was really hoping for. It's a good book for the beach... you won't strain yourself reading it. But, I think it's a good way to spend a few hours.

3.0 out of 5 stars Maybe, just maybe..., 23 Mar 2001

For a first novel, this was good. It had all the elements, humour, love, action, betrayal... but there was something missing. Another reviewer said that JL used the sex as too much a major part of the story and I thnk that's very true, I started to think I was reading a Black Lace novel by mistake! It's a very likeable novel and well worth a read, but teaming up with Emlyn Rees was the best thing JL could ever have done!
