This book has been a favourite of mine since it came into my keeping a few years back. It is well thought out - being divided into sections according to historical period, or specific intention (for example, musicals). Each chapter contains a concise synopsis of fashions of the period, as well as suggested costumes, some patterns and hints and tips which are tailored towards the realities of costuming an ameteur production - that is lack of budget and little time. Highly recommended.
