On a trip to Costa Rica this year, the booklet was invaluable. It doesn't give information about each bird but the colours and illustrations are very true. With its help, I was able to spot at least two thirds of the birds pictured- INCLUDING the Resplendent Quetzal.

This has been purchased to be a managable guide for a forthcomming visit to Costa Rica. It appears to be sufficiently comprehensive for a tourist visit

Brief but useful guide
This is a semi-waterproof, infinitely portable guide to the major species. It is not as good as a full field guide but you can't fit a field guide in your pocket!

You need something more sophisticated even for a day in Costa Rica.
The similar (but bigger) version for Panama (picked up in Fuerte Amador for $10) was more useful.
