This walking guide book offers the reader a great deal of information on the most beautiful regions and nature parks in Catalonia. We spent one week based in Girona, which served as a good base to explore the Garrotxa region and the hinterland of Costa Blanca. In the following week we based ourselves in Barcelona, from where we were able to do walks 1 to 6. Most walks were accessable by public transport (trains or buses) so we did not rent a car. However I am sure that if one rents a car one could follow the car tours and thus further explore this beautiful region of Catalonia. The walking routes were described very precisely so it was very difficult to get lost.

Sunflower Guides are simple and compact, and focus on routes and what's there now rather than masses of history. This Costa Brava guideCosta Brava: And Barcelona (Landscapes) introduced us to a lot of really interesting short walks that we would never have found otherwise. Get this book and get off the beach, it's a great way to open up the area and very easy to use.
