m-flo loves YOU.
To show the love, m-flo is back with their fifth full-length album "COSMICOLOR" which continues with the duo's "m-flo loves" theme in which the duo collaborates with different artists of different musical genres and gives them the m-flo music treatment.
m-flo, the duo that consists of DJ Taku (Takahashi Taku) and emcee VERBAL, both are well known producers and have worked with many top names in Japan, some who are featured on their latest album.
The "m-flo loves" collaborations began back in 2003 starting with m-flo loves Crystal Kay for their 14th CD single "REEEEWIND!".
The group has announced that this album will be the end of the "m-flo loves" series and if that is the case, "COSMICOLOR" definitely is a fitting end as the group brings back some of their powerhouse collaborations for newer songs with artists such as Crystal Kay, Amuro Namie, Koda Kumi, Chara and many more.
My favorite all-time "m-flo loves" song is "Miss you" on their last album "astromantic" but after listening to "COSMICOLOR", there are just so many awesome tracks on this album.
m-flo has stated that "m-flo loves" started with Crystal Kay and the final m-flo loves album will end with Crystal Kay.
The track "Love Don't Cry" is a enjoyable and effortlessly beat enticing track featuring Crystal Kay's vocals. VERBAL provides a nice and smooth competent flow of rhymes on this track.
Who can forget VERBAL and Amuro's collaboration ala SUITE CHIC. For the track "Luvotomy" is just a hypnotizing track which starts off slow and then transcends into an addictive pop song that picks up speed during its varying transitions.
As mentioned, I loved the song "Miss You" featuring m-flo loves melody. and Ryohei. Fortunately we get a few breezy rhythms and indelible melodies with "STUCK IN YOUR LOVE" with melody. and their 20th CD single "Summer Time Love" (2006) with Hinouchi Emi and Ryohei.
And the affecting pop tunes continue with collaborations with "Simple & Lovely" with Koda Kumi and their 21st CD Single "Love Song" featuring an awesome collaboration with BONNIE PINK.
Of course, it's not just R&B pop divas the group teams up with. They also collaborate with rock band MONKEY MAJIK with "Picture Perfect Love", DOPING PANDA for the m-flo "Amazing Nuts!" song titled "she loves the CREAM" and even a jazzy tune with singer Chara for "Love to Live By".
Also, a track with an international flavor featuring Chan, Thaitanium, Edison Chen and Ryohei for the track "LOVE ME, HATE THE GAME".
There are many more collaborations featured on this album and you can also find even more special m-flo love through the CD+DVD.
The DVD features 49 minutes of music videos and really cool bonus material.
Featured are the music videos for "Summer Time Love", "Lotta Love -m&M mix-", "Love Song" and "she loves the CREAM".
What was very interesting is the video for m-flo Visual Mega Mix - HEKE HEKE DON DON REMIX- which Taku remixes not just the audio for the four music videos but he manages to remix the videos as well. So, when you hear scratching, the video goes along with the scratching.
Also, added is the "History of m-flo" featuring a brief clip of all 26 music videos.
The CD booklet features a comic book titled No 5 which it says is based on characters and situations created by m-flo. Also, includes a fold out lyrics sheet.
First pressing of "COSMICOLOR" CD+DVD features a video clip of VERBAL & LISA live at Rhythm Nation 2006" (12.17.2006) performing "been so long/come again".
So, if you are an m-flo fan, you really can't go wrong with "COSMICOLOR". Featuring awesome collaborations and great music!
Definitely m-flo's best album to date!
