Practical Cosmetic Advice is exactly what you get from this book. It is detailed and comprehensive but still easy to read and understand. This book is a must for any practitioner in the field of non- surgical cosmetics injectables and filler and skin peels are all mentioned in this book. It is well worth the cost as you will keep returning to it time and time again as a font of knowledge, especially helpfull to the newly qualified injector/ practitioner wi increase fundamental knowledge.

A comprehensive book for the dermatologist to keep , read and re read as needed. Some of the ideas are probably not that scientific but then a lot in medicine isn't -

Great book to have for reference. Drawback is that it's American. Is there an British equivalent? I 'dip' in and out and like to have it around as it looks professional.

Susan - cosmetic derm nurse 27 Oct. 2009
By Susan Schaffer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I have been a cosmetic dermatology nurse for 10 years, and I have found this book incredibly helpful. I use it constantly to educate patients on their treatments. I found the explanations and the diagrams to be an essential part of our initial consultation.
I highly recommend this book for anyone, nurse, aesthetician, or MD in the cosmetic field!

This is THE BOOK for anyone in the skin care field ! 31 Aug. 2009
By Robyn L. Vandenberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I initially read The Skin Type Solution by Dr Baumann and absolutely LOVED it ! As a skin care instructor I used her book all the time to teach my students. Now, I have another resource with this new book. Dr Baumann breaks things down so clearly that it is not intimidating in any way. It is not your usual text book either. I am always finding new answers to questions I have had as well as my students. The skin care industry is so fluid, if you do NOT know your stuff, you will not be successful.

Kindle not the same as the book 11 Dec. 2011
By Sailor Girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
If you are interested in the full description and research that Dr. Baumann has so wonderfully elucidated in her beautifully detailed text, do not get the Kindle version... the version that I reviewed was not the same and was significantly abridged in sections. If you want an decent overview then do get the kindle version.
Less in depth than expected... 12 Feb. 2012

I found that this was a concise but helpful book for the novice. Not sure if there is anything similar out there but a good brief general review. I am a new provider in the cosmetic dermatology field so perhaps I had unrealistic expectations.
For fans of the Skin-Type Solution 15 Jun. 2013

A great way to learn and understand the skin from a medical standpoint without having any medical training. Especially valuable for dermatology nurses and estheticians!
