5.0 out of 5 stars Really Rugged, 14 Jul 2008
By Colin Dindial "Colman" (London UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The reason I bought this flash drive is because I can just stick it in my rucksack when I'm going to and from work. The outer casing is really tough and you unscrew the USB flash drive from the case making it a less of a worry that the flash will come loose and get damaged in your bag.

The usual tech stuff is it transfers quick and you get software with it but I deleted it, I just drag and drop.

I have bought Corsair flash drives before and I am very happy with their proudcts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big, fast storage, 6 Sep 2008
Bought to throw in my rucksack on motorbike journey to and from work. Had a cheap 8 gb previously and this 32 gb version is much, much quicker with data transfer.

With case the Corsair is quite bulky for a pen drive but out of the case it is just like any other, bulkiness put me off with other makes as it means you cannot plug anything else in the next door usb socket.

200m water resistant, now all I need is a laptop of similar water resistance!!

Great purchase, go get this one and pay that little bit extra for durability, 10 year guarantee and transfer speed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Build, 9 April 2009
By J. ZHU - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
(1) Solid Build: aluminum shell, the most rigid USB stick by far.

(2) Performance: Read speed is ok, write speed is slow. After formatted into NTFS, I copied 15GB data onto Survivor 16GB. It took 90 minutes. The performance is like 3 MB/s only. This is the only reason I rate it as 4/5 instead of 5/5.

(3) FAT32 -> NTFS: The "Survivor 16GB" is formatted to FAT32. If you have files that is larger than 4 GB, then you need to format "Survivor 16GB" to NTFS. Detailed instructions are contained here
http://www.ntfs.com/quest22.htm

(4) Extension USB cable included, very thoughtful.

(5) Capacity: In case someone is going to whine about the missing 1GB, here is the technical explanation. Operation systems (e.g. Windows, Linux, etc) count every 1024 Bytes as 1KB, every 1024KB as 1MB, and every 1024MB as 1GB. However, manufactures count every 1000 Bytes as 1KB, and so on. When a device is labelled by a manufacturer as 16GB, it means 16,000,000,000 Bytes. However, your operating system will count it differently: 16,000,000,000 Bytes = 15,625,000 KB = 15,258.789 MB = 14.901 GB
Thus, you will probably see your Windows XP telling you the capacity of this device is only 15 GB. Cannot blame your computer too much, after all it was built on binary principle, not decimal.
