3.0 out of 5 stars Get's the Job done but not 100% moduler, 2 May 2009

(REAL NAME)
Whether you prefer a moulder or the older type with all the cables permanently attached to the PSU is largely a matter of personal taste/priorities. For me personally, the benefits in terms of cable management and the ability to be able to replace any cable that may get damaged far out ways any marginal performance hit some people claim modular systems have.

However, what I don't understand is Why Corsair has decided to make a hybrid unit where all the lower power rails are modular but the crucial CPU and motherboard cables are permanently attached to the PSU.

I'm especially annoyed with what they have done with the CPU power cable as rather than have one 8pin one that can be spit in to to obtain the older 4pin socket (like they've done with the 20/24pin motherboard cable), they've gone and stuck a second 4pin connector on the PSU, so one of the two will always sit around unused within the PC no matter what set-up you're using.

The is a good supply of modular cables, Its not exactly generous, but it's probably enough for all but the most extravagant builds, although don't expect to be left with spares for all cable types. The cables are all black, which I like as it looks more elegant inside the case, but some people may prefer there cables with colour-coded weirs. Also, the quality of the cables, whilst no bad could be a bit better in my opinion for the price. You do get a nice velcro pouch to keep all the leftover cables.

To be fair to the PSU, It has been around for a while, yet if your to believe the majority of the reviews and group tests you find out there on Google (as of February 2009), its still generally regarded as a very good performer. It's also rather elegant in its black and yellow livery in my opinion, although the yellow might not be to to the taste of all.

Overall It does the job and unless you have some unhealthy obsession with cable management like myself, once you install it and close you computer case, you should be fine.
