I bought the Corsair Survivor because I accidentally bent my Sandisk Cruzer Micro in a bicycle pannier, and I decided that since it was the third USB stick to get destroyed this way I needed something much stronger. So this one seemed like the ideal choice!
I was delighted to find that this USB stick had an excellent level of build quality, and that feels sturdy in the hand (as you would expect with an aluminium USB stick). However, when I removed the metal casing I felt slightly let down by the fact that the end of the USB socket is not better protected. I would have expected more than just a rubber seal to protect it against the inevitable wear and tear of using it every day (and the occasional bicycle wheel).
I have found the speed of this stick to be average, in a non-scientific test I found that the Sandisk Cruzer has a faster copying speed, but lets face it, the build quality more than makes up for this slight disadvantage. One which you most likely would never notice.
Overall, I would highly recommend buying the Corsair Survivor 8GB even though it is more expensive than the competition. At the end of the day - you get what you pay for (sorry for the cliché).
