I've had this headset for about 3 or 2 months now and they're just fantastic! They deliver very good sound quailty which is great for a USB headset which uses built in drivers and not your sound card which just makes this headset even better for laptops as there sound cards are bad.
I've used this headset on mostly Team Fortress 2 and my experience playing has just increased so much since I replaced my old 2.1 stereo headeset with this Corsair 7.1 headset. I can now pin point where an enemy is and tell where abouts my team mates are from behind, just amazing. They're even better if you play any of the Left 4 Dead games, you can tell where all the zombies are coming from and hear a witch from a mile away then easily spot her.
The music quailty is good but you might need to go into and mess around with the equalizer to get all the bass out of headset which is what I presume people like out of their songs. I wouldn't get this Headset if you mainly chat and listen to music, get the HS1a which uses the sound card (that is if you have a really good sound card or one better than the one built into your motherboard).
The microphone is really good, it's supposed to block sound from the other side of the mic but so far that doesn't seem to work, not sure what's happening there with it but otherwise, I've had no problems with talking to people through skype or Steam, none at all. So it's great for talking via voice chat online.
Build quality wise, don't listen to people who say this headset breaks after a week or something like that, because it doesn't. Like I said, I've had this Headset for about 3 months and the headset is as perfect as it was out the box, the only difference is that it's a bit more loose around the head but it happens. It actually feels better around the ears than when I first got the headset. I would be pretty confident with dropping this headset and picking it up with no problems with it, heck one time I punched my mic and it still works 100%.
So yeah overally perfect headset, it was definitely built for gaming, the sound is just perfect, surround works a treat and it's great for talking to your mates online, but if you have a great sound card and really love your music then go for the Corsair HS1A which uses your sound card instead of built-in USB drivers, and is about £20 cheaper.
