Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Recorded at Ardmore Studios outside Dublin in early October, the Corrs sound comfortably at home on this orchestrally-enhanced live acoustic gig. With only two studio albums to their credit, it may seem a bit early to go for an Unplugged re-run but the inclusion of two new Corrs-penned songs and a trio of previously unheard covers as well as the live greatest hits means there's something fresh to enjoy. An unplugged session also establishes clearly that The Corrs, in danger of being perceived as pop puppets, are a real band who play and sing beautifully and can deliver the goods live. Encouragingly, the two new songs, "Radio" and "At Your Side", are well up to the usual Corrs standard, while much of the already familiar material benefits from tasty orchestral arrangements--"What Can I Do" in particular works better than the dance re-mix hit version. --Johnny Black

I've always been a fan of the MTV Unplugged series and was intrigued to hear how the Corrs would do on this. For those who don't know, the principle here is simple - all instruments are unplugged - no electronic keyboards and most importantly no electric guitars. Instead, you get a chance to hear some familiar songs sound that little bit different, and in this case it's done wonderfully.

A number of tracks stand out to me on this album since they've had to played a bit differently due to the lack of electric guitar - notably What Can I Do, Toss The Feathers (especially with the tin whistle seemingly flying off every now and then), Forgiven Not Forgotten (with a fantastic piano bit thrown in) and So Young.

Also included for the first time is Radio, a fairly pop-esque song with great lyrics, and sung superbly. Added to this are a couple of great covers - Old Town and the REM classic Everybody Hurts, the latter of which I think is possibly my highlight of the album as it's just done that little bit differently to the original.

All in all, recommended - one of the best Unplugged albums I've heard, and proof if it's needed that the Corrs are great live.

I had already bought the album " Talk one corner " and I had liked songs as " So young ", " What can I doh? " etc.... I had the big pleasure to find them on this album MTV Unplugged. The music of Corrs being already very Instrumental, one could say that the difference isn't big. On the contrary, songs such as " Only when I sleep " benefits from new instrumentation and take another dimension. Some are even better than in the previous albums: so " Toss the feathers becomes a festival of instruments with Jim in Piano, Andrea in the flute, Sharon in the violin and Caroline in the bodhran for our biggest pleasure. This album introduces also totally new songs and which have a "more pop" tone but which are not to neglect. these song are "Radio" and " At your side " that one can find in the album " In blue ". Always in the new songs, there is a magnificent song to be absolutely discovered because it has the merit to leave the word to Caroline And Sharon who sing " No frontiers ", with Jim at the piano. Finally, there are my favorites. First of all, " No frontiers " who allows us to discover the voice of Caroline and of Sharon (that we should hear sing more often). There is then Jimi Hendrix's " Little wing " but the Corrs version is more beautiful and melodious. Finally, there is Everybody Hurts whom the interpretation by the crystal-clear voice of Andrea removes nothing of the original. In brief, if there is indeed a disc of Corrs to buy, this is that one.

The Corrs albums are full of brilliant pop songs, very catchy and very well produced. This album however is very special, briliant actualy. The songs sound amazing in acoustic form and the intimate atmosphere adds to the beauty. All four band members get to show how skilled they are at their instruments. The three sisters also let us hear how wonderfull they are at harmony singing.A must for anyone who likes music played with passion
