From the Back Cover

Speak and write French as if it were your native tongue!

Tired of making the same old mistakes of switching your genders, confusing your tenses, and mixing up your idioms? Break the bad habits that leave everybody you talk to scratching their head. Correct Your French Blunders warns you of hundreds of typical errors learners make and explains the reasons behind the mistakes, so you can correct yourself in the future.

Improve your French skills with this fun and comprehensive guide and avoid all the common pitfalls, such as:

  • Mispronunciation and misspelling
  • Applying English grammar patterns to French
  • Putting verbs in the wrong tense
  • Using incorrect prepositions in expressions
  • Forgetting agreements in gender and number
  • Hanging out with faux amis (false cognates)

Correct Your French Blunders offers exercises covering all parts of grammar and wraps it all up with review passages to check that you are blunder-free. Soon, biting your nails will be your only bad habit!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for students of all levels, 6 Mar 2008
By Mr. Michael Gayler "millimole" (Leicester UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a booked packed with grammatical hints and tips. And - not only does it cover the written errors that students of French might make it also covers spoken issues. However, it's not just a book about blunders, it covers French grammar, spelling and sentence construction in a concise and useful way. It is not a text book that could be used on its own - more of a handbook to supplement your usual textbook.
It would seem to me that this book could usefully find a place on the bookshelf of students of almost any level - from beginner to advanced.
If I have one criticism, it would be that the example errors (neatly set out in highlighted boxes) are poorly explained and the correct version is not always given - which led me to scratch my head with some of them.
There are a number of excersizes in the book in each chapter - I don't find these useful but you might!

4.0 out of 5 stars A must have for intermediate students of French, 1 Sep 2008
By D. J. Egan (Paris) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A great book for intermediate to lower level advanced students of French. It contains lots of little tips that most other french language books never bother to point out and I constantly find myself referring back to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Correct your French blunders by Véronique Mazet, 9 May 2009
By Alan Fawcett - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am an intermediate student of French and have studied this book from cover to cover, carefully completing all of the exercises.
It is excellent. There are many tips that I have not found in other grammar books. I am sure that it has helped me to improve my understanding of the nuances in the use of French which makes all the difference between just getting by and receiving favourable comments from native speakers.
I highly recommend this book to all serious students of French.
