Product Description

Product Description

A quiet summer holiday in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales was just what Millie needed. No excitement, fresh air and huge helpings of her Grandmother's home cooking.

But Millie is drawn into an intriguing mystery that surrounds the isolated shooting lodge on the moor, the Dutchman who rents it and the sudden death of two residents in the village. Convinced that Lizzie Banford did not die of natural causes, Millie sets about finding the truth.

Set in the lead mining area of peaceful Swaledale, this is the first in the series of Yorkshire dales Mysteries.

Synopsis

"Corpse Way" is a Yorkshire Dales mystery.

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant read 11 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a pleasant read. I actually found the characters and locations more interesting than the storyline which, whilst perfectly acceptable, I found a little weak. The story is nicely paced giving the characters time to develop.
As the first of a series, Corpse Way has a lot going for it. There will be room for further character development and, hopefully, some stronger plots. I shall certainly be reading more in this series and can recommend it to anyone looking for a not too demanding but enjoyable book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gentle read 12 May 2012
By Kew TOP 1000 REVIEWER

This is a "cosy" mystery and quite a gentle read. The pace is fairly slow with the story concentrating more on developing friendships and the Yorkshire countryside; as well as solving the mystery of course. I didn't find it a riveting read but I did quite enjoy it. As it's the first in the series I will try some more to see how Millie develops as the series progresses. So although I wasn't overly excited by reading this it has interested me enough to try some more in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Readable 15 Jan 2012
By Joy B
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the 1rst of Susan Parry's books I have read. There seem to be another 4 in the Yorkshire Dales Mystery series and I will definitely read more. This was a Freebie recently and I was drawn to it as my son loves the Yorkshire Dales and frequently heads off there to walk.
I found the story interesting as were the characters (I do like mysteries though I am not into crime / thrillers generally). There were good descriptions of the local area which I had expected, both geographical and historical.

3.0 out of 5 stars Holiday Read.
Lighthearted read, along similar lines to famous five books. A little bit lacking in depth, but ok for a holiday read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
As this book started I was not sure I would get into it, but by the fourth chapter I found that the well crafted characters and the atmospheric setting drew me in. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars The story was quite novel
I quite enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting being set in a specific area and the story was not run of the mill

3.0 out of 5 stars tweeds and scones
plot was a bit faint, more a travellers guide than a thriller. If you are familiar with the dales this will tick the right boxes

Intriguing title encouraged me to buy and I wasn't disappointed. Involves some history and tourist advertising whilst solving mysteries and murder. Very likeable characters. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A gentle read
A gentle read, not too taxing. Hoping the characters develop as the stories continue. Set in one of the most beautiful parts of England which greatly enhances the story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Corpse Way
I found this book easy reading, didn't tax the brain too much, not too in depth with the plot. OK if you don't want something too heavy.
