The 50th anniversary of Coronation Street prompted me to look for material that could add to the TV experience. This volume ticked pretty much all the relevant boxes. It was an official publication (should mean a high level of accuracy); authored by Daran Little (who, as far as regular Street viwers are concerned, can do no wrong) and covers the details of the show that can only be touched on in TV broadcasts.
This book gives full details of all the houses and shops on Coronation Street from 1902 until the publication date of 1997. It has floor plans of the houses, details of all the residents who inhabited them over the years and wonderful insights into the lives of the residents. Births, Deaths and Marriages are carefully chronicled. Characters who made fleeting appearances are given as much respect as the Barlows, Platts or Websters.
It is highly recommended to the keen viewer who has followed the Street from the early days and the younger viewer who can learn much about what has gone on in Weatherfield's (and Britain's) favourite street.
