Used this book for an intensive trip around Cornwall, so we covered a lot of ground. There are some strange problems with this book, like a couple towns have writeups or information, yet don't appear in the index which is annoying when you're deciding whether to jump off the train or not. The are almost no maps of anywhere in Cornwall (though maybe the other counties are okay?). But the advice is sincere and personal and gives little tidbits about the place. Definitely recommended.

We have just got back from a two week holiday exploring devon, Cornwell and the isles of scilly. It gave info on everything we could ever have wanted to do from booking accommodation, travel to the isles, snorkalling trips and even restaurant recommendations. We wouldn't have seen half as much without it. A very useful guide. Lacking a bit on maps but I wrote things on our road atlas of interest.

DISAPPOINTING
I am a big fan of Lonely Planets but this is the second or third one that I thought was disappointing & superficial.

Handy Size, Awfully Written
The English is woeful, allowing for copywriters having to attract the reader with exaggeration. Cliché and tautology abound enough to make you wince. One example, (p. 28). Read more
