About the Author

This guide was walked, researched and written by Henry Stedman and Joel Newton accompanied by Daisy.
Born in Chatham, Kent, Henry Stedman has been writing guidebooks for over fifteen years and is the author or co-author of ten titles, including Trailblazer's Kilimanjaro guide, Dolomites Trekking, Coast to Coast Path and Hadrian's Wall Path, as well as The Bradt Guide to Palestine and the Rough Guides to Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
When not travelling or writing, Henry lives in England editing other people's guidebooks, maintaining his Kilimanjaro website and arranging climbs on the mountain through his company, Climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
Joel Newton took his first footsteps on the South-West Coast Path in 2007. With ill-fitting shoes and a bag that was far too heavy he set off from Minehead, eventually arriving in Falmouth five weeks later with a far lighter bag and an injured foot. That journey was over but it was to become the inspiration for many more including Offa's Dyke Path, West Highland Way, Great Glen Way, Hadrian's Wall Path, Cotswold Way, and sections of The Pennine Way in addition to finishing the SWCP. He finally reached Poole Harbour whilst co-authoring this, his first book for Trailblazer.
Daisy is Henry's dog, though any assumption that ownership equates with control is entirely wrong in this instance. Two parts trouble to one part Parson's Jack Russell, together with her two human companions Daisy managed to walk the entire trail indeed, for every five miles that they completed, Daisy did about ten. This is her second book.

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous book 11 Jun 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is an excellent detailed book giving great descriptions of the walks - similar to Wainwrights books with the lovely sketches & diagrams as well as accurate detailed directions. Or if you just want the book for research for smashing places to have a cup of tea and watch others, walking then it is,worth buying it just for that.

Excellent detail of favailable facilities and accomodation, but although the maps are of a typically high standard as seen in all trailblazer publications, the route descriptions are a bit on the brief side.

Planning to do the whole path in weekend stretches. Provides a useful reference point, particularly when looking for accommodation (saves a lot of time and effort and have been imposed with all the recommendations to date). I like the route sketches and tend to agree with the routes descriptions (strenuous, easy etc).

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok book. 29 July 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Have bought this book for a holiday in Sept so haven't tried out the maps yet.The maps are just sketches so will have to see how good they are. Mind it is mostly coastal walks so they should be ok.
Thought that the writing was very small and just to much to sit down and read somehow. Think it might be better to pick an area then read about it the day before travelling to it. Found the book to long to just sit down and read cover to cover. there does seem like there is a lot of info in the book though.
