Product Description

Product Description

Corgi are proud to introduce the first and only die cast collection to be inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which we hope becomes a lasting legacy of a monumental moment in sporting history. Whether it is a high end, authentically detailed Limited Edition piece or the start of a multi piece ‘collect them all’ series, there is something here for everyone.

The double Decker bus was the official mode of transport for over 6,000 athletes during the 1948 London Olympics. Special services began on the 8th July and ran to the 21st August 1948,345,000 miles were covered. The London Transport Executive was formed in 1948, the year of the last Olympic Games hosted in London, as part of the government’s massive post-war nationalisation programme.

LT entered public ownership as part of the British Transport Commission which also owned the newly formed British Railways. The red double decker bus remains an iconic symbol of London and will be seen by millions of visitors to London during the Olympic Games.

It is made of metal, and durable. "London 2012" on the bus makes it memorable! If you are picking a "British" toy, I think it is a good choice.

Bought for an Aussie girl to remind her of The Games and to be an investment for her future health care in say 40 years time. For show only - not for playing with. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Bus stop
This toy has given great fun and educational learning to most children and adults who have seen it. It also gives people and insight as to what bus travel was like.
