Informative but very disappointing presentation, 5 Oct 2008
This review is from: Core Training for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (CD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
This product is designed to train you in Office Outlook 2007 and is used for the MCAS exam (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator).
You must have a constant internet connection and email to use this training guide as it's all completed online. Remember to unblock popups from this site to do the training.
Similar to the Vista core training, the voice for exlpanation is unusually very distorted almost like a Dalek (from Dr Who) and is at times unclear.
Although the products requirements are that you use Windows XP, vista or 2000, some of the initial training downloads require you to have Vista installed on your PC. This is misleading as I have XP and can't do a small part of this course.
Similar to the other training courses, they consist of several information and training modules (a mixture of text based reading and movie material) that you can navigate around using a simple to use navigation bar. Objectives are clearly stated to inform you what you should have learnt by the end of each modules. Movie material can be paused, rewound, and skipped as you would expect. At the end of modules, you can perform self tests that query your knowledge.
Make sure you don't have many other applications open when starting this course as new windows pop up every 2 minutes filling your taskbar with un-necessary junk.
The course is aimed at those of you wanting to know absolutely all the ins and outs of the Office Outlook 2007 and includes;
Getting started with Outlook 2007
Sharing and remotely accessing data in outlook
Working with tasks and notes
Managing the calender
Managing Mail and contact information
Working with Email messages
All in all it is for those of you who need to take the course for MCAS and although it is informative, it is very poorly presented.

Not the Best, 23 April 2011

I have to say I did learn a few things from this training package but I just didn't enjoy the way it was presented and the overall experience. The other reviews cover various goods and bads and I don't want to repeat them here but I'd certainly think twice before doing any more training using this method.

Good for MCAS, 8 Mar 2009

Overall a good idea but if your not stydying for skills (MCAS) then your probablly wasting your time, I wanted to further my knowledge of outlook and was mislead by the fact that although it states XP compatible you will need Vista for a couple of the sections. If I had to say what was the most annoying thing about this it would defiantely be the amount of pop ups on screen after a while accompnied by an awful voice that instructs you.
The strangest thing is that the CD-ROM provided serves only to be links to the online files for the training and is pretty much a waste of plastic, a URL in the box would have been just as useful in my opinion. Although this is suposed to be the kind of course / training that allows you to pick it up at will I would advise you try and get a large chunk of time and try to go thru the course end to end.
If you want general outlook 2007 training or want to know the new additions I would expect that there is better out there. I can't say I learnt too much - a few little bits and peices here and there but this is defineately aimed more to users looking to gain certification.
