Last time I did anything 'electrical' was wiring a UK plug years ago under the supervision of my dad. I bought a couple of these lampholders because one of my existing ones had broken and would no longer hold up a bulb as the plastic clip had snapped off. I chose these lampholders because they visually looked the same as my existing ones, plus the bulb clip in these is metal.
So, with trepidation I chose a bright sunny day for the deed, turned off the mains electricity, got the stepladder and had a go at replacing the broken unit.
Obviously I paid careful attention to how the old one was wired before I took it down (remember; I'm new at this!), wiring the new one up in the same way and tucking the wires around the post clips. What I did notice about these new lampholders was that the hole for the white electrical cable to run into the top of the device was narrower than the old one was, and I had to really waggle the cable a lot to get it through. [Not having a tape measure handy, I estimate that the hole is approx 7mm wide.] On the plus side, this meant that the cap didn't try to slide off or down the wire in an annoying fashion while I was wiring up the connections. The wires are held in place by very small screws which I needed a 4mm flat head screwdriver to operate. The miniature screwdriver set I got in a christmas cracker was ideal!!! The hardest thing about installing the lampholder was being up a stepladder while trying to do up the screws holding the wires in place. I did notice that fitting a bulb in the clip was a tad stiff, so I'd definately have to take care replacing the bulb in future.
Anyway, I got it all sorted and the lampholder is working fine and my lounge is now lit up again.
Yes, I am sure some of you do this sort of electrical wiring thing all the time, but I've never done it before. It was a big deal to me!

I bought this to replace a damaged bayonet bulb socket in a bedroom.
The replacement socket was easy enough to install and just required 2 wires to be screwed in and that's it.
I'm no electrician but this was easy as pie, It took no longer than 5 minutes to do.
Just don't forget to turn off the electricity via the main fusebox while doing the work and you're good to go!

It is what it says it is. The nice thing about this one is that there's no plastic/bakerlite behind the lug fittings, so the metal is sufficiently strong to hold a bulb in place

The cable strain relief mechanism is strange but that can simply be left out if necessary

Decent lampholer and was cheap at the time of purchase too

The product was exactly as advertised. it was good quality, and I installed it with 15 minutes of receiving. Very happy, and will buy similar products again if required.

I ordered this to replace a very discoloured holder in our new home and it arrived very quickly. Unfortunately when it arrived it was faulty and I couldn't get it to screw together properly. However when I mentioned this to the seller he replaced it without hesitation and the new one works perfectly.

Difficult to elaborate on such a mundane item but the original item (which this replaces) had become yellow and brittle with age and broke whilst changing a bulb. New one works just fine!
