Anna and Chloe are twins. They share everything - from secrets to clothes; from fending off the school bully to dealing with their parents' separation. Even Chloe's terrible accident hasn't split them apart. After all, twins have a special bond.... But Anna is beginning to realise that being inseparable isn't always easy. Especially when no one else seems to understand that Chloe isn't really gone; no one apart from the dashing Joe that is, who, inconveniently, seems to like both sisters. Told through the eyes and mind of 12 year-old Anna, this is a powerful novel exploring teenage life and the grieving process.
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
An update on what's been happening recently to me and my books.
5th October 2012 - and my new novel for adults, 'Alexa's Song', is now available on Amazon Kindle, UK price £2.54. It tells the story of Jake, an artist who has bipolar illness, and Alexa, the woman he loves. When Alexa marries Jake's brother Steve, Jake thinks he has lost her. But their story is far from over...
Alexa's Song has been published in time for World Mental Health Day on October 10th 2012, and will be reviewed on a blog focusing on books that deal with issues of mental health. Follow me on Twitter @Ros_Warren or see my Facebook Author page for further details.
Latest news as of 31/3/12 - my first novel 'Charity's Child' is now available on Amazon Kindle! This is a fully revised edition and tells the story of a 16 year-old girl who becomes pregnant - and claims that the father of her baby is God. The truth, when it is eventually revealed, shocks everyone, especially Charity's close friend, Joanne. 'Charity's Child' is suitable for anyone from the age of about 14 upwards.
Another exciting announcement: I recently signed up with Phoenix Yard Books, the publishers of 'Coping with Chloe', to write a new series for them, for 7-9 year-olds. I'm really thrilled to be doing this, for all sorts of reasons. More news here soon! (It will have robots, I can tell you that...)
My local writing group, Coventry Writers' Group, has published an anthology of poems and stories - all inspired by the city we love.
'Coventry Tales' came out on 7th November 2011 and we've been holding all kinds of launch events in and around Coventry, including a signing in Waterstones, Coventry city centre, on Saturday 12th November. Local shops are stocking our book, which can be ordered from Amazon in paperback form at £4.99 and in Kindle form at £3.82. The book will make a great stocking-filler for friends and family - anyone with any interest in Coventry past and present.
(My own contribution is a not-very-serious discussion of the Coventry ring road - entitled 'Wonders of the Coventry Ring' and based very loosely on the TV documentaries of a certain well-known physicist. If you've ever wondered what quantum theory has to say about taxis and white vans - now is your chance to find out.)
I write for both adults and children and my first children's book, 'Coping with Chloe', was published in March 2011 by Phoenix Yard Books. It's been getting great reviews and I'd like to thank all my readers who have written reviews on here. The story is told by Anna, whose twin Chloe has recently moved in and started sharing Anna's body. Why? Read it and find out - and discover what happens when gorgeous Joe falls in love with both twins and Chloe's presence starts to get very uncomfortable and frightening for Anna.
I've wanted to be a writer all my life but only started seriously writing novels when I took early retirement in 2006. I love the moment when your characters come alive and take over. I've got two grown-up kids, I live in the English Midlands and I enjoy walking, swimming, reading, theatre and making cakes.
In the past I've been a university lecturer and researcher, a tutor of English, science and maths, and run my own gardening business.
