This is an immensely amusing book with a good storyline.
The protagonist, Linda, is often torn between her love for music and her personal relationships. This is because she cannot contemplate someone she loves enjoying what she considers really bad music!
Memory and emotion are two key elements of this book. Music, however, is the dominant role. The first chapter is particularly strong as Linda explains the 10 songs which changed her life and why. If you have a favourite song that brings a particular memory or feeling to mind then you will certainly identify with this story. The importance music can have on someone's life is emphasised throughout. It's fascinating to see how different songs affect the characters. What's more fascinating is that this makes you question your own taste in music and wonder if there's more to it than meets the eye.
I'd love to give this more than 3 starts but felt some parts of the book were unecessary. There were some conversations where I couldn't understand the significance to the plot and parts which hindered the pacing. However,it's not a book that's easy to put down as it conatins so many good elements. It is great escapism and definately worth a read.
