As other reviewers said, the photos in the book provide great eye-candy, and certainly inspire one to head out into nature again.
Well, we did, and visited a number of campsites around the Burgundy region of France, using this book as a guide. The information in the book is accurate - the telephone numbers actually work, costs are in line, and descriptions of the places are realistic. Furthermore, the places are indeed well-located with attractive features that distinguish them from the idea of merely an open space in the middle of nowhere.
There are however two small problems with the book.
First, I feel there is an insufficient number of campsites listed. For example, Burgundy (a large region) is only covered with three choices. all three were great, but two or three more would have been fantastic. The choice of site is not standalone - it also depends on the cities or attractions one plans to visit. For us, having to drive 1 to 2 hours to vistit Dijon or Beaune was a bit far.
Second, the description of the physical location should be better. It's not really good enough to give the name of a village, when the camping site is in fact 15 minutes drive away along a mess of winding country roads. Of course, now that we know this, we'll know to research the locations well using websites and online maps.
Overall, great book - much better than a dry reference book of a gazillion camping sites that leaves you wondering which to choose.
