American Biased 15 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought this book with a new pressure cooker from Amazon. I am highly impressed with the pressure cooker but highly under impressed with this book. It is printed on that coarse absorbent kind of paper that is useless for a kitchen book, so if you get a splash or stain on the paper it will not wipe off and will be staying! The recipes are highly fanciful and some of the ingredients I have never heard of, it is a book aimed at the american market so you will have to convert the ingredient measures to UK measures so unless you are prepared to spend hours walking around the shops looking for these ingredients and then having to convert measures etc I just wouldent bother. I just wish Amazon would keep these american based recipe books on their american website or if they insist on selling them here they should make it clear in their write up that they are american and not british recipes. I cant be bothered sending it back for the sake of a tenner so I will delegate it to the bookshelf insted of the kitchen where it should be!

Pressure cooking is, unfortunately, very misunderstood. This book should go a long way towards changing that. It presents an excellent range of recipes, well organized and written, and every one of which we've tried has been fabulous. Because of the speed and flavor, we've been pressure cooker fans for three years, and this book opened our eyes to new possibilities. Ms. Sass's taste in spiciness tends to be a little milder than ours, but once you see where she's coming from, it's very easy to adjust. We'll try the vegetarian version of the book, too.

I was always afraid of pressure cookers, but this book sold me on them. All the recipes I have tried are great; my children will eat them too. For me it has the ease of a crockpot, but without having to prepare the ingredients in the morning. I highly recommend this book. It also is a good introduction to vegetarian cooking.
