This is a much raved about book, and for good reason. Full of easy to make, homely vegetarian food, you are sure to find many new favourites in this book.
There are recipes for chutneys, podi, rice, vegetables, dals, yoghurt, sweets and fried savouries ("cripspies"). The recipes are laid out very clearly, with the ingredients lists split into sections for ease of reading. As well as clear instructions, there are variations, tips and interesting facts provided. Every dish has a beautiful colour photograph that will really get your appetite going.
The recipes are all pure vegetarian (dairy but no eggs, as is common for many Indian vegetarians). Oil is kept to a minimum, and the recipes are very healthy. Apparently, Pedatha is more of a fan of chillies than of sugar, so there are just a handful of sweet dishes, but they are all very good.
Overall this is an excellent book. The anecdotes about Pedatha give the book a really personal touch, and the layout of the recipes has been well thought out. Enjoy trying every recipe!

I consider Indian to be one of the finest cuisines in the world. I have been cooking Indian for the past 20 years with great success and I have collected lots of wonderful recipes mainly from books. I can say with absolute confidence that if you are looking for the perfect book on Indian vegetarian dishes, then look no further as you have found it. Pedatha has put in a lot of energy in creating "Cooking at Home With Pedatha". The book is full of wonderful recipes with clear instructions and lots of tips. The colorful illustrations that accompany almost all recipes are really inspiring. Even if you are not in the mood to cook, you could easily spend a lot of time just looking at the photos. I strongly believe this book should be on everyone's shelf.

A well-designed book, its recipes are simple, authentic and remind me of my grandma's cooking. I like the layout and colour scheme. I use this book as a gift and whomever I have gifted this to, they are always delighted with it.
