We initially bought this book as we wanted a recipe for Blueberry pancakes and couldn't find one anywhere else - needless to say, being an American book, the recipe was great (if a little complex because of the US measurements).

Since then we've pretty much tried all the recipes and they are all brilliant - much, much better than most of the other cookery books we own. The meatball recipe is a partiular hit, and if you have the desire to re-create any popular american food in the UK, then this is the book for you.

Once you work out (or buy) cup measurements and sticks of butter, then the book is easy to follow, and so far (touch wood) we have had 100% success.

The 'Friends' quotes and funnies in the book make it a little lighter to read than most others of this type - but don't be put off by the branding, professional chefs submitted the recipes.

One of few we would buy again!

I'd say this book is a bit more sweet than savoury, you'd do alot better with delia and such, i say this because the ingredients are hard to get hold of, i find, as the book is highly american. The measuring system isalso involving 'cups' and the phrases describing method arent always clear.. However for a hardcore friends fan its got it all, a cheerful book to have whilst your baking with a quippy remark every page, some read-up on the actors we love so, and even frequents quotes from the series itself which always makes me happy.

This may seem unbelievable, but I got more out of this lovely little recipe book than Jamie Oliver's ultra-complicated Jamie Does America book. The recipes are all-American and NYC in particular, old-time favourites and most have really funny references to Friends, like the artichoke dip that Janice can't stop eating, and the lasagna where Rachel's wedding ring gets lost. Refernces aside, the recipes were very well written by a veteran of Food Illustrated, and surprisingly easy to understand despite some non-UK measurements. It's also got some vintage 90's references pre-Starbucks, like tips on which indie coffee houses to go to, and the differences between types of coffee roasts, before we all knew our Javas from our Robusta. Excellent recipes for Jewish Hannukka food, Thanksgiving roast, clam chowder, Italian-American pizza and loads more. For Friends fans, but also for those looking for a simple American food cookbook. Excellent.
