Product Description

Product Description

If you work full time, the last thing you want to do when you come home from work is to spend hours slaving over a hot stove to prepare a meal. Family dinners are important, however, and you may feel guilty if you do not take the time to sit down with your family in the evening. If this sounds familiar, do not worry – there is an easy solution! All you have to do is learn how to cook for the freezer! Cooking for the freezer is a cooking method by which individuals prepare large quantities of food to be frozen and reheated at a later date. This is a simple way to prepare individual servings or family-sized meals that can be reheated and served as a home-cooked meal. Cooking for the freezer is a great way to enjoy home-cooked favorites like lasagna and meatloaf for dinner without spending an extra hour or two of your day in the kitchen. You can even prepare breakfast, lunches and dessert items ahead of time and store them in the freezer! By using this cookbook you can still enjoy family dinners together or quick meals on the run without having to resort to fast food or take-out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs more dinner ideas... 10 Dec 2012

Only found one recipe I really liked. When I'm thinking about cooking in advance, I'm not exactly worried about breakfast, dessert, or bread, and even lunch isn't my top priority. I would have liked to see more entree type ideas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fourth time I am posting a review 24 Jan 2013

I do not know how Cooking Penguin is tricking Amazon into taking down my 1-star review all the time, but the other bad reviews on this page also support my view that this is not a cookbook anyone will find of use. Repetitive recipes, barely any dinner suggestions, recipes poorly written with the instructions in the wrong order, you get the idea. All the fake favorable views on this page can't disguise how bad this book is if you just click on the cover to look inside.
Money and time are short for most people and the last thing they want is to try to cook something for their family and have it turn out wrong. Or worse-set fire to your kitchen because they tell you in the Stir-fry recipe to heat the oil and then do other things for about 30 minutes, by which time, of course, your pan and stove would most likely be on fire. They might have corrected this mistake from the first edition, but there are so many things wrong with the recipes from an ordinary cook and mom's point of view, incorrect proportions, instructions missing or in the wrong order, and little to do with best results for freezing, for instance, that if I had to list them all, the list would be longer than the book itself.

1.0 out of 5 stars Would be VERY disappointed if it had cost anything 16 July 2014

Very basic recipes that can be found on a simple internet search. Minimal recipe selection as well. I got it for free to check it out. Would be VERY disappointed if it had cost anything.

good basic book on cooking for the freezer. I'm well beyond " basic", but there is always something to be learned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has good Recipes 5 Jan 2013

I was looking more for a book that was more of a read than just a recipie book. I was looking for more of a book of concepts what kind of things can freeze and what cannot. Proper storage and for how long can food goods be stored before going bad. The book is FULL of recipies
