This little book has incredible info on cooking with edible flowers...there may be the odd book that covers more vareties and will cost more, but this one is really value for money...there again it is down to the individual taste.

Nice little black and white paper back booklet.

The pictures are hand drawn, mainly of the herbs. Has a few recipes for the following plants:
Basil flowers, Chamomile, Chive Blossoms, Dill flowers, Hibiscus, Lavender, Marigolds, Nasturtium, Roses and Violas.

I found a great seller of some of these dried flower products who sells here on Amazon and on their own web page which is helpful - www.steenbergs.co.uk

I can't get all the flowers i wanted which are in the book so i hope to find and grow some of my own as i am sure fresh flowers will taste even better, especially for salads.

Word of caution: If you are new to this like i am, do your home work BEFORE buying seeds to grow your own plants as some have toxic verities.

I only gave three stars as the book is a lot smaller than i expected -32 pages (not all the pages have been taken up with recipes - but include the contents page, introduction etc.and 'other recommended books' from the series - this all take up the 32 pages too!) and not much else to it.
Plain boring drawn, basic pictures and nothing of the actual dishes.
Could do with more recipes too.

Great starter booklet.... 11 Jun 2011

It was decades ago that I fell in love with edible flowers, and I was hooked. There are so many flowers you can use in salads, jams/jellies, candied for decoration on cakes. This booklet is excellent for the novice because the directions are easy to read and follow. Just know you may get hooked and end up buying books on the subject.

Cooking with Edible Flowers 28 Aug 2008

The book arrived in good time (actually sooner than I anticipated). It is in excellent condition, and I am glad to have it in my collection. You ask elsewhere on this response form whether I am over 13. Let me say a resounding, "Yes!" I was 13 in 1955. I began eating my mother's flowers when I was 2 (I ate one of her tulips). Liked 'em ever since!
