Product Description

Synopsis

Food is good. From the sweetest amuse-bouche to the stickiest pud, via the freshest soup and the finest steak, the culinary arts provide us with some of the richest sensual experiences that we are privy to. Booze is also good. From Beer to Whisky, from Absinthe to Zubrowka, man's multifarious methods of inducing intoxication run from the simple to the exotic - all with the same pleasurable effects. Cooking with Booze, therefore, brings together two of mankind's greatest achievements in an explosion of culinary genius. From beer-battered cod to plums in red wine, from champagne oysters to the perfect vodka jelly, Harvey Bone presents a range of drinks cupboard delicacies to entertain every palate, culled from sources across the globe, with easy-to-follow recipes for even the tipsiest of chefs. Cheers!

a great all-rounder 9 Oct 2007
the amusing introduction to this book, full of family anecdotes and bon mots, sets the tone very well. it's a fun read, each recipe prefaced with a little description of the dish. I've already cooked a few and found them simple to prepare and most importantly absolutely delicious!! I would definitely reccommend this book for anyone - I love cooking but even if I didn't, the 'with booze' aspect would definitely appeal! The recipes are mouth watering, and it's just the right size to dip in to without being too daunting. a real treat, not to be missed.

Hic! 9 Oct 2007
If you've ever found yourself at home on a sunday night faced with a half-empty fridge and a reproachful drinks cabinet containing only the dregs of a bizarre and ill-matched collection of alcoholic beverages ("Ouzo cocktail, anyone? Shot of arak, perhaps?") then this book will prove delightfully useful. It contains enough recipes to keep even the most sozzled boozehound happy as well as a level of invention and gourmandise to satisfy the palates of epicures. A funny and intelligent guide to the world of cooking with booze - bon appetit... and bottoms up!

cooking with booze 7 Oct 2007
This has got to be the 2007 Christmas book! It's fun to read, good to look at and has some really exciting alcholic recipes. It made me laugh too!
