Product Description

Product Description

Jack Cardiff was responsible for some of the most visually stunning films in cinematic history, including The Red Shoes, A Matter of Life of Death, Black Narcissus, Rope, The African Queen, Sons and Lovers, and Girl on a Motorcycle as well as commercially successful and cultish Conan the Destroyer. His work has been hugely influential, inspiring countless filmmakers including Martin Scorsese. This book is an insight into the visual art of cinema by one of its greatest exponents. Entertainingly and accessibly presented in Q and A sessions, it is written in a non-technical way (technical terms are sparingly used and fully explained). It is for all film enthusiasts, particularly those who enjoy or study the art of photography in film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading, 19 May 2011
This review is from: Conversations with Jack Cardiff: Art, Light and Direction in Cinema (Paperback)
Needless to say that this is an excellent companion to the autobiography by Jack Cardiff (Magic Hour: A Life in Movies). I especially think of many photographs in the book.
