Review

“CONVERSATIONS WITH THE FAT GIRL is smart, funny and heartbreakingly honest. I couldn’t put it down. Liza Palmer infuses her novel with humour, candour and lots of heart. This is one conversation I never wanted to end!” (Johanna Edwards, Bestselling author of THE NEXT BE )

"Engaging and poignant and heartbreakingly real, Liza Palmer's tale of best friends, true love and just what size happily-ever-after wears is a winning conversation." (Jennifer Weiner, bestselling author of GOOD IN BED )

Product Description

Taunted for being ‘the fat girls’ at school, Maggie and Olivia swore to be best friends forever. But now they’re grown-up is their friendship big enough to survive?

Maggie’s dreams remain unfulfilled. She works in a coffee shop, has never shifted the pounds, and harbours a painfully unrequited crush on her colleague. Worse still, she’s agreed to be bridesmaid for the now size 6 (after surgery) Olivia, who has found her Mr Perfect as well as lots of new, more fashionable friends.

As emotions run high in the tension-filled lead up to Olivia’s wedding, both girls are forced to look squarely in the mirror and confront some harsh home-truths about themselves and each other…

A must read 24 April 2006
Format:Paperback
You have to read this book.. It is brilliantly real and very touching. I am not really into this type of book (I am a crime reader) but I was shocked at the impact this book has had on me. Liza Palmer has tapped into both frienship and the life of a modern day fat girl in the most inspiring way. You will Maggie on all the way through. It is rare to find a book that you totally connect with. I laughed out loud and I sobbed in buckets at the reality which is sometimes heartbreakingly real. The only critism I have is that its too short. I want to know what happens next!! So come on Liza we need the next one.

very good 13 July 2006
Format:Paperback
[...]When i first got this book i didn't think i would like it at all, but i couldn't put it down. Anyone who has ever felt overweight or single for that matter can relate to the main character Maggie. She comes across in a strange way, but she has to cope with the fact that her best freind Olivia is gettting married and is now very thin, not that way she used to know her. It is a really nice book about freinship, love, family and food!!
